Congrats on the new vlog. Yeah sometimes it can be a struggle to get content. The clients shoot needs to come first. But this looks great man!

🙏🏼🙏🏼 much appreciated! If the situation allows and I remember, I almost always ask the client if they are okay with me taking some BTS. Usually they say it’s okay, but like you said their content comes first.

Agree with David. Client first, even it it means not getting ANY content. You can create vlogs prepping, talking about the shoot and at wrap. Then content in between shoots on thoughts for upcoming shoots and how you scale up or down with gear, sub renting etc. Bottom line, respect any NDA and make sure those people that might make it onto YT know you are filming them or they might sneak into a Vlog.

I actually just wrapped a shoot where all my interviewees were nervous about being on camera in general, so I chose not to capture any BTS of the interview process, so I could 100% focus on making them comfortable and helping them through the process. Not disappointed with the choice at all!

I'm so horrible at remembering to get BTS content. I'm more focused on the actual job and sometimes don't even think about it until the ride home lol I've been thinking about getting something like the insta 360go that I can just attach to me or a tripod or something and just let it roll for a couple minutes and doing that a few times a day. Then working with that later

I’ve been contemplating that as well. I’ve seen a few creators use a 360 cam. Someone even mentioned using the Meta RayBans for BTS content and that’s an intriguing idea as well. I think that only captures 30 seconds at a time though

HI Andrew great vlog! Just wanted to ask, would it be possible to monitor your audio through the monitor? On the Atomos Shinobu you can plug your headphones into the monitor itself. This might leave the port free on your camera.

Thanks for watching, Martin! Honestly that’s a great question 😅 I’m pretty sure I’ve noticed a headphone out on the monitor but I never tested it to see if it was usable. Good thing I have a couple more gigs coming up that I can give it a shot on!

I assume you mean in the b-cam footage? One subject moved slightly and I didn’t catch it in the moment. The other subject, I wanted a more drastic angle to still get the steps behind him in frame.
