I enjoy your videos a great deal. That braided twist is what a handspinner would call a 2x3 cabled ply. The existence of cabled yarns pre-dates the Bronze age, so I wonder if some smith looked at what his mother, sister and/or wife was doing with her yarn and thought "bet I could do that at the forge, too..."

That braided twist handle is a thing of beauty.

@@BlackBearForge I have a question for you! I've browsed your videos looking for one about what sizes of stock you keep on hand. Is there one? If not, I am curious what sizes of stock you would recommend a beginner keep in their shop.

"It's amazing how much easier things move when they're hot". This reminded me my first hot-smithing steel after months of cold-working on copper. I was like- wait, shouldn't steel be harder to work on?

Thank you so much. Love learning black smithing from your vids. A little tip. When twisting tieing wire always twist it clock wise if you're right handed. If you tie rebar all day your arm will die twisting wire the wrong way.

Amazing. Your videos make me wish I had enough time to do some smithing. I've only done some very basic rudimentary stuff in the past. You really are an artist in iron.... well steel.

I lit up my forge just the other week, I'm up in Burney though. I still wetted down the whole area and then some with my hose though. Not taking any chances. Ended up saving my neighbor after he put way too much lighter fluid on his BBQ, ended up lighting part of the house on fire. Nothing serious but I was glad I was there.
