That tool you used for marking where the blade is out of flat, center if the spine and edge, etc..with the dial guage..... whats it called and how much are they?
@Mysticmountainforge Жыл бұрын
Is is called a height gauge, you can find them at www.grizzly.com/products/igaging-0-6-digital-fractional-height-gauge/t21576 and at amazon www.amazon.com/QWORK-Aperture-Measuring-Magnetic-Standing/dp/B08YCXYBFD/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=height+gauge&qid=1695835778&sr=8-6 they range from 25.00 USD on the low end to several hundred dollars.

Just a question. Do you find that spring steel has a memory. That is to say that once straightened, might it tend to want to return to the original bent shape? idk, just a thought..
@Mysticmountainforge4 жыл бұрын
I usually let it anneal overnight in the forge after the initial forging, I also run several thermal cycles before heat treat usually 5 or so, I haven't had any trouble with it wanting to curve back but I also only do an edge quench which seems to also help prevent warping. Thanks for watching I appreciate it.

@@Mysticmountainforge I made a few punches some of them took to recurving on me. I will try that next time I straighten some spring. TTYL... Thanks..

What would it cost to have a very good chefs knife made for me like a really balanced sharp French knife 🔪 probably a lot and I am low income disability anyway just wondering?

I usually put them up for sale on my Etsy store when I have them available, I stopped doing custom orders because of being left hanging too many times. To find my Etsy store just type Mysticmountainforge in the search bar and it will pull it up. Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate you watching!

I dissagree, sometimes to much material is a bad thing, for instance, a canister demascus pattern thats kinda like a panorama and you want the whole scene on the blade.
@Mysticmountainforge Жыл бұрын
I would treat it differently with canister or regular Damascus, this being 5160 it didn't matter so much.
