A friend took me hog hunting recently (with rifles, not a knife) which turned out to be great inspiration for the sleek looking blade forged in this video. Bird shot is used in a canister with a 1084 steel core to produce an artistic, san mai style blade.

i think the one thing i love above all is that when knife makers or just makers in general aren't afraid to show something that didn't work, it displays such a degree of professionalism in being able to learn from and teach others when something doesn't turn out perfect. Glad the end product worked so well!

I have been a Louisiana hog hunter for 15 years. This is literally the perfect hog sticking knife profile, it is what all of us would draw up when imagining the perfect knife as we carried our 20 dollar walmart specials around. I have been faithfully watching your channel and all your videos. My Previous favorite was the knife made from from nails. I enjoy your watching craft and appreciate you making the literal excalibur of mine. KEEP IT UP YOU ARE THE BEST KNIFE MAKER ON YT

Absolutely love the way that turned out... I wasn’t too sure when you first peeled off the canister, but it turned out really nice! Also, really appreciate you being bold enough to show us when things don’t turn out. As a fellow knife maker I tend to learn as much if not more from my mistakes and the mistakes of those who’s work I follow!

Awesome build!!! Really like how that design came out. I use that medium quench(McMaster 11 second) for everything except W2, it works great. Next time you might want to try only dipping the edge. Though I will warn you, it will flame up. Then dip the whole thing after about 10 seconds. I do it with my hamons. Hope all is well, take it easy.

I've been salvaging random stuff from litter on the street for a while now and one thing I come across all the time is disposable lighters. Most of these have "flint" and steel style igniters. I was wondering if you could take the striking steels from a bunch of lighters and forge them together into something. I didn't do any research as to the exact composition, but it seems to be hardened steel. Perhaps it could even be used as edge instead of filler. Anyway, all of the stuff you make is super neato. I really liked the scissors becoming a knife and this shot pattern Damascus turned out way better than I thought it could. You've really got a great skill and talent for this.

The medium speed oils are definitely the easier way to avoid boomerangs, plus I just tend to use the aluminium quench plates I keep for doing stainless air-quenches are a great thing to have on the side to let it cool dead flat- or at least as close to dead flat as it doesn't matter when it comes to secondary grinds. Great looking rustic blade

What a badass looking knife. I also really like the shape/design of the blade itself and the contrast between the dark area along the edge and the bright cutting edge itself. And of course, the handle matches aesthetically very well the blade pattern. Overall a stunning piece of work.

This fella likes to try lots of different things that really offer no advantage at all, just for the sake of being different. And some of his experiments just plain don't make any sense, honestly... kinda just making things more difficult and almost guaranteeing bad results. I wouldn't do it, but it's fun to watch. I suspect he enjoys the process as much as the end result, and that's perfectly fine.
