Very nice! I just happened to notice... You've got "fire" spelled in Elder Futhark on your forge, which is awesome.

You need to get that anvil fastened down better.

every time your anvil moves my eye twitches,

+chris chrisson christ yes. Also don't wire brush when you're at welding temp, you're just wasting time and heat that way.
@DarthNehimis8 жыл бұрын
+OakeshottXVI Its probably a good idea to wirebrush any impurities off of the surface so they dont become inclusions in the weld.

Bro I like ur work. Is it difficult to work outdoors. I like to learn blacksmithing, Because I am doing alot of work with axes, machette etc. I own different kinds of axes and tools but I understood thst to make a tool for my own uses then I should make my own tools by myself. I cut and split really hard trees so low and medium carbon steel don't stand a chance I also use hard wooden handles for my axes, wooden handles are the only perfect choice for axes and hatches because it feels comfortable no vibrations.

U a section of pipe or rod to hold through the eye while tempering it. I think your tongs were acting as a heat sink during the tempering process and thus making it take longer. Keep hammering ! :)
@fyrebyrd3019 жыл бұрын
drason69 I was thinking the same thing about the tongs drawing a lot of the heat away during that process. Looked good in the end though.

Something in my mind.......will the heating process affects the resilience of the steel?
@allensanderson78698 жыл бұрын
thats why he tempered, to make it less fragile and more resilient

what does flux do when forge welding?
@Saksikoipi8 жыл бұрын
Flux reduces the oxidization of the steel, removing impurities and slag that form while it is being heated and make the weld stronger. It also reduces the temperature required for the steel to weld.
