gulty_ rover Don’t worry about your English it’s a lot better than my Persian . The English will come the more you use it. Good job my friend.
Question. As someone who really has never forged a blade before, what is the purpose of the clamping the blade between the two boards to cool? Is it to let the blade cool slowly while held flat so the crystals align while flat or is it a surface finish thing? Please educate me!

I love how metal workers always use metal working tools to do their woodworking jobs instead of normal wood tools. Instead is using a router to route the wood to fit the tang for instance, they use a milling machine. Fascinating.

Yes your right

Using what’s readily available. It’s a pragmatic approach. And metal working tools generally hold up better to wood than woodworking tools to metal. ;)

I was thinking it was to add more carbon to the surface of the steel and make it harder and hold an edge, but I'm not sure.
@jpdj27155 жыл бұрын
I was thinking along the lines of Darryl. Wondering of the carbon from the burnt wood would travel into the steel. If so, it hardens the outer layer as I assume the carbon ions will not go deep. That way the core of the steel could remain more flexible.
