Awesome work! I have been meaning to ask, what is the material you rest the hot metal in to cool? And does it help bring the temp down slowly for grain structure?

Looks like vermiculite, but lime works very very well, and sand can also work.

Great work!!! Question: Why was the steel guard and steel pommel of the sword so thick? Was it for weight/balance purposes? Or was it from the request of the person who commissioned the sword? Thanks!

@@therory6888 it's made in commission, designed together with the customer. The guard and pommel are viking influenced.
