Forging a San Mai Chef knife by hand

So many questions! 1. What is ferret chloride and what does it do? 2. Why sandpaper, then chloride bath, then steel wool? 3. What does coffee etch do? 4. Why are you wearing socks with sandals?

1. Ferric chloride is an acid to etch the blade

2. To clean the blade and get a better look.

3. The coffee helps bring out the color, add to the etch, and stain it
