I am brimming with excitement to see those leaves get attached. I want to see if the movement that I picture in my mind, actually matches your work. Love the laser machine that cut your leaves out, what a big time saver.

Incredible! My dude, your work and the work put forth by your local community is marvelous. I'm hooked and can't wait to see the project through 'til the finish. I can only imagine the sense of pride you get from such a project. Crazy how I went through this 11 minute video and it was so captivating that it felt like a KZbin short. So glad I discovered this channel. Cheers, happy holidays, stay safe! I hope you're having a wonderful time with your loved ones here in the holiday season. 💙

So beautiful!!! I think the loop idea so there's an element of movement in the sculpture almost like a real tree was so genius, and I actually love the different color the copper turned around the edges from the heat where it was cut by the plasma cutter! I can't wait to see it done, I think you do such a great job of riding that edge between imitation of nature accurately while still adding some fantastical artistic elements.

I've watched this a few times now, and I'm just amazed. Just get lost in the beauty of it all. But I do have a question. I always end up rewatching these with my friend, who is an actual blacksmith. Well, we both have been wondering. If the trunk and the limbs are made of mild steel. What were you planning to use to stop the rust on it after it gets to the redish brown that you were looking for?
@Max_Randolph_Studios Жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you and your friend enjoy the videos! I’m going to let the trunk naturally age and rust so it gets that nice bark color and texture.
@luishion Жыл бұрын
@Max_Randolph_Studios Yes, I so love the videos. Your imagination and creativity is just mind-boggling. I'm almost 50 and have loved seeing and watching blacksmithing for ages. But you have an artistry that I've only seen a few times over the years. But kinda still wondering about the rust thing. I understand that you would wait till the trunk and limbs get a good coating of rust. That amber brown bark would look amazing. But wouldn't it continue to rust? Unless you coat it in something that would stop the rust from going too far? I know you wanted it to last a very long time. I was just wondering what you would use to stop it from rusting through the mild steel over the years?
@Max_Randolph_Studios Жыл бұрын
@@luishion It's a great question! The environment where the sculpture is installed is a very dry climate, so once the initial layer of rust takes form it won't continue past a certain point. So in a way, the rust is it's own sealer similar to gun blueing.
@luishion Жыл бұрын
@Max_Randolph_Studios that's very cool. I didn't even know that was a thing. I'm in the Pennsylvania /Maryland area most of the time. So humidity in the summer and snow in the winter... so much snow. So i never even thought about other areas and humidity/ temperature changes and how they would affect the steel. Thanks for the info. I'm always happy to learn something new.

If you hang all those shiny leaves on without the patina, it'll look like its autumn time and then the leaves wil dull and turn green, almost like the tree comes back to life. Almost what a real tree would do in reverse.
@Max_Randolph_Studios Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It would just take too long for the leaves to patina naturally, years, so I wanted to expedite the process so I could deliver the promised vision to my client.

I know it's a bit cheeky but as you say just asking for help can be a blessing. I've been really struggling with all my relationships, all my basic tasks and just my mind and thoughts. It might not sound like much or might sound alot but there is no harm in asking... Do you have any of the copper leaves left as overflow? Is that something you could share to your community? A beautiful piece of artwork as a reminder that we all grow... We all struggle... But sometimes we just need a little help/reminder that we aren't alone. I know I would cherish one and would pass it down like the family tools. I love hearing how passionately you love your craft and how much you get from it personally, I recognise this eclipse of emotions and it's fanatic to hear and feel again all be it via someone else

That is a lovely thought! I should have a few leaves left, I won’t have enough for everyone, but maybe I’ll do a randomized giveaway!
