First thing I realized when I bought a forge is that I needed to make my tools. It’s been 9 months, and I’ve got about 10 pair of tongs and a few hardy tools. They all started as bar stock or scrap metal I picked up. I wouldn’t have them if John wasn’t here to guide us. Many thanks John. You’re a treasure.

4/5ths of my time in the shop is making tools to make other tools to do small projects! Well done as always!

One wonders how you made the portable hardy tool. Drift?

If only I had that equipment, then I could make anything I need.

Especially if you have a big power hammer and a 50-ton hydraulic press ;-)

You got that right John, we're Blacksmiths, we make tools for everyother trade, not going to rely on someone else to make mine.

I need a powerhammer. How do I make one?

Hi! look for gentil knives on YT. They have an excellent video. It took me 4 months on-and-off to make my pneumatic power hammer. *You will need to know welding* and good luck, take your time like I did. 🌻

@@Aco747lyte oh, I was mostly joking tbh, bc the title card just said "need a tool, make a tool". My forgemate has some welding skills tho

I saw a guy somewhere here on KZbin who has a foot powered one. He made a wooden frame and used a sledgehammer attached some sort of axle with springs for upward tension. It was pretty neat, and didn't look like a complicated build

A tool like that can be fabricated very quickly. Instead of using the hydraulic press why not just use an arc welder? Hydraulic presses are just as non traditional as arc welders.
