What an honest Priest. This sermon should be preached everywhere round the world. I think Priests have too much leeway to do their own thing. There is no real control or supervision over them in the way you would have in most other workplaces. Some abuse that lack of supervision

Over 12 months have elapsed since this wonderful sermon. More today in 2018 are the sentiments more valid. Yes, it is Jesus Christ we must focus on and not the Priest, I say that and I do not practice it. In my country Cameroon. When I was still a child I went to one priest in our Parish for prayer he send me to go and offer mass. I have never been frustrated in my life that way. I said to myself should I abandoned catholic church . I say there are pastor's in other churches that pray for people even on the streets. Why my own Parish priest. And that s how I learn how to pray and stay with the Catholic Church till date. We have forgotten you dearest FR in the name of our Lord Jesus

Every time I have heard someone say, "Father so and so is such a holy Priest", I can assure you it's because that Priest always tells the sinner what they want to hear. The Truly Holy Priest in the eyes of God is the one who always tell people what they need to hear for the good of their eternal souls. Those Truly Holy Priests are more rare than the rarest pearl because in this day and age Eternal Life just doesn't matter anymore, not to the people in the pews nor the man standing up at the pulpit. We've got six other days that we can take a few minutes for prayer, scriptural and spiritual reading, a visit with the Blessed sacrament, catching a video like this one, or signing up for faith formation classes online. Yes even though priests or nuns are human, they are most tempted by the devil to turn away people. We as Christians should be strong and look upon these repentive priests and nuns and we should forgive them like we want to be forgiven by God. Anyone who comes to me and truly says they're sorry I'll forgive, actually I don't really have any anger in my body don't know why but it's cause I know I'm not perfect too and see the imperfections of others. Since you confess that you are bad priest, you can't be all bad. Bad priest would never admitt something like that. No way, prirsts are man and they get to be forgiven when they are sorry. Just like I believe some people are not called to be cops because they can’t handle authority and power. Fr Jonathan, your homily is partly admirable but also hugely worrisome. If you are saying you have abused children you need to take further action than simply saying sorry, since the abuse of children is a crime. If you are not saying this, then I am sorry your homily is highly ambiguous. Your openness is a good thing but if a crime has been committed for the sake of natural justice, you need to do more than use a homily to somehow plead for forgiveness without doing justice for your crimes. Indeed if you have commiitted such crimes, you can no longer continue to be a priest despite what you say God using you. God does not use those who have injured children. This is not simply my opinion but part of global Church policy in cooperation with civil and criminal law.

Fr Myers whilst referring to spiritual wrong doing in a parish context , in these quotes he is talking about bad priests and following on, in the context of children and teenagers. So take out the wax out of your ears and quite frankly I don't care if you disagree. If you have never been abused, you are NOT listening clearly. If and I say If Fr Myers is referring to a sexual crime on children and teenagers he needs to do far more than seek forgiveness, but give himself up to the police. This would be a criminal act that deserves civil and natural justice in accordance with Catholic teaching. As for me being damaging, I was not the one making the video and kindly note the word "If" and I am not making any accusations if you hear both the video and read my original reply. I am simply reacting to what I and all of us can clearly hear emphasised by the relevant quotes here. Incidentally the slightest suspicion on clergy sexual abuse contrary to your "ZERO evidence" is to be treated by the Church officially with "ZERO TOLERANCE" once the matter has been thoroughly investigated by the Hierarchy and others.

Fr means to say sorry if ever he had been the reason that someone left the church, he us saying sorry like we all say sorry for our wrongdoing, as humans we are all guilty of sin. He us not admitting to the wrongdoing of which some people are referring to. He himself has not commited all the sin's he has verbalized, there he is referring to the whole priestly community, and in all community's, all people fall due to sin. God work's through his consecrated priest's, though they are human and imperfect, as we all are. Fr. was saying we need to have a close relationship with Jesus Christ, and not follow the priest just to please him, we need to please God, and listen to our priest's as they try to shepherd us through our life journey. And of course we have free will, and if we pray and stay close to Christ, if we ever hear something not quite right from anyone including a priest we will decern correctly how to deal with such an event, God willing our experience's will all be positive!!
