As an Australian woman it actually terrifies me the lack of consequences our justice system gives murderer's, especially within family circumstances. So many cases of absolute horror stories have happened here there's a reason we have the saying when people are married for over 10 years "oh you served your life sentence".

We don't know if they tried to get him some help really. Or if so I didn't hear the dad say. Like I said above, I have a son like that. I've moved twice because I'm terrified of him. The police didn't take his threats seriously. These kinds of people are really good at turning things around. On one occasion when I was in fear for my life, I actually called the police and he convinced them I was the crazy one and they left. True story. I was floored. Also it's very hard to get help for an adult. It's not like you can plop them in the car and drive them to the hospital. His blame game is flawed. But as you can see, the woman doing the interview was almost taken in by him. They're very good at manipulation. People mean nothing to them. I suppose his dad goes to see him out of guilt.

@@kimberlysmith7311 not forgiving can be just as healing as forgiving. It's empowering to say "I will not forgive for this. This is something I will not accept". Forgiveness can keep a victim in a trauma loop. If it doesn't work for you, then it doesn't apply to you. But there's some psych articles that discuss this, as well. Like D S said below Bart blames his parents for not sending him to a mental hospital. It's sick how he also said good comes from evil. Like his Dad's happiness is due to him and his evil acts. She was duped in that interview. You could see the smirk on his face. He planned to kill them 3 different times. The last one he accomplished his goal. I think it was about the money. As far as the 1st case the fact he murdered his wife Corrine and was able to call then tell her brother to come over. I don't think he was out of his mind. I believe her friend. He wasn't getting what he didn't want by moving her back to his family and he ended her life in a horrible way. He could have just left her.

I sorta thought the whole idea behind forgiveness was to unburden yourself, free yourself from the baggage of hate and despair and feelings of wanting retribution and all the damage that this can do to you. Not to still feel love for the perpetrator as if nothing happened and hang out with them on death row every Friday. That seems very much like these people have misunderstood the purpose behind why we forgive. I don't get these people.
@AwkwardAnnual

I didn’t interpret the mother from the first story that way - I definitely saw her as wanting to unburden herself of negative feelings so that her daughter’s killer can’t control her life. I saw it as her wanting to take her power and happiness back. I don’t understand it - I hold a grudge, I don’t think I could ever forgive like that - but to each their own.

"Forgiving" means different things to different people. I'm a forgiving kind of person, but that doesn't mean I'll be groveling at your feet for acceptance the rest of my life like Bart's father is doing with his son. In a case like this, while the dad may think he's doing all the right things by visiting his son in prison and being supportive of everything, I think the dad is actually trying to forgive himself for not being a better parent to his son. And the son is basically exploiting and manipulating his dad.
@pamelafrye4667
@pamelafrye4667 Жыл бұрын
I believe the father just doesn't want to fully accept what his son Bart REALLY & TRULY did!!!!! He's still living in DENIAL!!!!! Plus, IF they were parents that SPOILED their children, he doesn't want to accept his own mistakes in his parenting & being DUPED by Bart's LIES!!!!! There is NO WAY I could stand by & support my child while on trial for committing the crimes of planning the murders of their family & having them carried out!!!!! And, after LYING for years about "supposedly" being in college & getting ready to graduate!!!!! That's just TOO MUCH BETRAYAL when any parent would EXPECT & TRUST their child to be HONEST & ASK FOR HELP!!!!!! It wouldn't have been the end of the world IF he had just been HONEST & asked his parents for HELP & UNDERSTANDING!!!!! I'm sure they WOULD have been there for him 💯!!!!! But, if he is a sociopath, he's NOT capable of doing those things & he's NOT capable of APPRECIATING his father's & stepmother's forgiveness & love!!!!!!!

You understand how forgiveness works. The only way genuine forgiveness works is if the person genuinely repents, apologizes and asks for forgiveness. Otherwise, it's just psychobabble formulaic BS. Really, the only person who can forgive him is his wife and she's dead. Her mother cannot speak for her daughter.
