Been to many Trower concerts .. winterland Oakland Coliseum all up down the left coast Before volume restrictions . Imagine that yelling at each other in the car on the way home. He is the man. His deal is he truly enjoys jamming for the fans . The volume was planetary it created a vortex of sonic rock. He is DEFINITELY not forgotten to us who over many years stood in line rain or shine . Close your eyes it's about to begin Thanks Robin Trower for the awesome times.

Winterland was the bomb. We saw most of Trower’s shows he had there. I think it was 1977 he traveled with his own massive PA system and Tommy Bolin was on the same bill. What a guitar night! Not sure what was the loudest there though, Trower, Johnny Winter on his rehab comeback tour or ZZ Top with Billy Gibbons wall of double stacked Amps. God, I loved that place.

Like I posted saw Trower twice. Would have went to more but time and need to catch other acts through out the years. Time in the 80s and later years had to be on my side to catch again. But so the two times I did first in 75 with John Mayall opening. What a delight to have seen that legendary performer. RIP. Second time in 76. J. Geils Band opened RIP J. Geils. Both shows at Hara Arena Dayton.(Tornadoes 2019 tore through and building damaged and undergo taken down. Had financial difficulty before and stop shows prior to tornadoes)RIP Otherwise Robin had a style and tone all his own and always knew where he came from with enjoying Hendrix or blues masters back in the day. The sound to the sound of many generations that get into him.

I've never forgotten about Trower. As far as I know he is still jamming. Probably my favorite Fender player before SRV. I was introduced to Trower by my father in the 90s. The man is a stand up guy from what I've seen and read, truly a mastermind. Keep on working until the day of the Eagle Mr. Trower and thank you for your musical contributions to the world.

I first heard bridge of sighs in 1974. Trower's guitar work and Dewar's vocals absolutely blew me away. I still listen to it to this day and It still evokes that same feeling as the first time I heard it as a 16 year old. I always play it at least 3 times through before removing it from the turntable.

I started my guitar career in 1974 precisely because of Bridge of Sighs. I have seen Robin countless times since then and he is always a source of inspiration...In fact I have been a professional musician and educator for over 40 years now, largely due to him. He is so grossly underrated it borders on the criminal, but if was not for him, I would never had the love for music that I have, and would not have had the ability to support a family...Thank you, Mr. Trower for your wonderful, beautiful, talent and the GIFT of music. Much love; Doc Rock....P.S. A wonderful video sir. Thank you!

Agree,,, We opened for Robin Trower as well as Paul Rogers at the Ventura theatre in 1999, both great shows! Robin is a kind, personable, Christian gentleman who I enjoyed talking with about England.... Lived there too. Paul was rather secretively hiding between our time on stage and his, he did sign my vinly copy of Burnin' sky and after Paul left the stage, I walked out onto center stage and pulled up his set list taped to the floor which is still in my clear plastic album sleeve. I spent time socializing with Pauls band mates, a young bassist who I never got his name but his guitarist was Michael Fisher, fornally of Heart and writer of that famous guitar riff on Barracuda.... Michael was a clown and enjoyed people,,, puff, puff, pass!

Every time I hear Robin Trower it reminds me of a summer night. I was still in High School. Me and some friends filled an ice chest up with beer, we all had pot and I scored some mushrooms and then we pilled into my 6 man raft and went night rafting on the American River. Drunk, stoned and trippin balls floating down the river in the middle of the night listening to Bridge of Sighs. Damn i wish I could do that again

Trower is severely underrated. I have been a huge Trower fan since the early 70s. I was listening to him while others were listening to Mainstream FM. The guy is like 137 years old and is still cranking out killer music. This guy deserves serious recognition BEFORE he passes away! Thanks for the video. Very well made. Subscribing. Keepem coming.

My parents were not cool. However, I am. Picked up this little gem of a 1980 K-tel Album, "The Rock Album" and it had, "Too Rolling Stoned". Fell in love, and went out and bought, "Bridge of Sighs". The rest is history. And, like you, I am waiting on his next tour. I saw he placed a Knoxville, Tennessee date into the 2021 tour. So, hoping for 2022 to see him again.

I was fortunate enough to see Robin Trower in 1977 along with Derringer and Jethro Tull. It was festival seating and I was just a skinny kid but I managed to hold on to my center stage spot in the third row. By the time Tull came out the floor was so jammed packed my feet weren't even touching the floor. I was suspended in the air at the mercy of the crowd, rocking back and forth based on the direction everyone felt like moving in. Trower was great and it remains one of the best shows I've ever seen. Bridge of Sighs is great album I still enjoy listening to. He may be a bit of an overlooked guitar player but he's not forgotten, at least not by anyone who saw him live. Thanks for posting.

After they finished I approached Robin and asked him to sign my vinyl copy of Passion which he did with his smile .... We talked for a few minutes about England as I lived there in the 1960's... Robin is a truly wholesome person and is a Christian gentleman. Robin lives in a small town on the beach in Southern California and his name is on his mailbox by the curb, he actually invited me over... He is a personable, down to earth guy who is nothing like some of the other guitar gods we have opened for over the years,,, they will remain nameless...... But Robin remains in my memory ....

One of the best shows I've ever been to hands down! Saw him back in 98 in a little club for like 15 bucks! Robin is not forgotten, he is in his seventies and still touring as far as I know!

I have never forgotten Robin Trower! Some of the best live shows I've ever seen was Robin in smaller clubs during the 80s. I believe he's coming to the US later this year for a few dates.

we were away from our seats, there was commotion and running for our seats, peeking on LSD, the lights went out, the stage bathed in green light, Trower starts with Day of the Eagle the place erupted.. San Diego Sports Arena . 1976 I was 16 and thats one of my fondest concert memories... Scorpions, 1983, when I was 23 was a rush too.. then there are the concerts that were not bueno:

None of these guitar players are forgotten. There is a younger generation that grew up with rap and metal who never knew about these players. I assure you my generation has not forgotten.

Trower is a living legend, one of the secrets of trower's tone is heavy strings and high strings action, thank you very much for the information. Greetings from Brazil.

"THIS IS IT !" Once again my friend you have shined a spotlight on the truly deserving.Robin has put out some new music that I listened to just a couple days ago.Robin is another strait up musician like Mick Ronson not worried about the drugs and alcohol that has destroyed so many. Thanks for the gear rundown at the end!

Great episode. OK, so the back story - I'm working as technician at GRT in Sunnyvale CA (GRT owned Chess/Janus Records, the flagship labels). GRT stood for General Recorded Tape. We had our own studios, engineering and mixing departments, etc. And since we were just down the road from Ampex, we had state of the art tape systems. And since we were the tape division of the whole line up, we got to work on a lot stuff coming out of our Chicago studios (balance, EQ'ing, re-timing, etc.). We made the production master tapes that went back to the pressing plants, and the dupe tapes that ran in our tape plant (8-track, Cassette, & R2R). So we're all getting a little sick of Jim Croce out on the production floor as they grab random tapes for QC. So during a lunch break on a Thursday (IIRC), I stick Bridge of Sighs in the QC player that has speakers all over the tape production floor. The other staff stopped in their tracks or hurried up to me to get me to pull that tape. Why? Because even though we made Stones tapes and just about everybody else's (under production contracts), nobody had anything like that. A&R was seriously set back in their chairs. The buzz started. Is this the new direction ... What a ride it was !!

The album Robin Trower Live ! is incredible I wore that out and got a second copy .Many have said that the Hendrix comparison is what prevented him from being more known as he deserved .I personally don't see it but people see a Strat and a 3 piece lineup and it's a shame because songs like Daydream , Lady Love , I Can't Wait Much Longer. I'm going to listen to them now ,Thanks for doing this .

I totally agree with you. Never understood the Hendrix comparison. In my opinion SRV sounds more like Jimi than Robin. Bottom line, I’d rather hear Trower play than the other two. I like Robin Trower Live better than anything from the Hendrix or SRV catalogs.

Y'all be trippin if you don't think Hendrix was a big influence on his tone. And Eddie hated his sound so much that his initial rig was a stock strat into a modified Marshall Super Lead 100.His bandmates suggested the humbucker in the bridge, but I digress.Had the Live album as a young one yep one of my most played albums.

Robin was an innovator in his own right, and a contemporary of Hendrix in developing the electric guitar sound that still defines rock music today.

I heard Day of the Eagle when I was 15 years old and I was hooked, I bought every album of his in the 70's and 80's. I looked forward to every release. He is a master of the strat. Where has the time gone? I was saddened to read years age James Dewar passed away. He had a very distinctive and magnificent voice.

Bridge of Sighs is one of the top 3 guitar albums of all time. He is still killing it at age 76... his new music is great and he has what I consider to the best tone of any guitarist period. He merges blues, funk, hard rock like no other. Super creative genius.

I first heard bridge of sighs a few years ago when I stumbled on it after coming back from Venice. I only recently found out through watching a video that it wasn't Robin doing the singing! The vocalist in the song is phenomenal too!
