Good morning, Gayle! I love to hear a sewing machine and need to get my machines out (4- regular, heavy duty, embroidery and overlock). I have a ton of fabrics but most of them are brocades and such for belly dance costumes. I put away my machines when I became unable to dance. I think some of my stash would work for book covers and fabric flips. Thank you for inspiring me to have fun with fabric again. Love ya!!

Good morning Gayle! 💕 You always manage to remind me of things I need to do! A quilting friend of a friend of a friend sent me a big zippy bag of quilting cut off strips. ‘Can you use these for anything?’ she says. I nearly snatched them out of her hand. 😊 I still have half of that zippy bag I’d forgotten that need to be ruffled up. 😆 I do office work for a contractor. Compared to hammering, clanging and banging I hear at work, a sewing machine sewing is a welcome comfort. 😂 Enjoyed the visit my dear. 👍 Have a great Friday! 💕

I understand the zen you feel when you're making ruffles... I have 4 qt bags full 😂 They were all scraps from other projects and miscellaneous scrap bags that I have picked up. Many are very retro and I wonder what they will ever go in, but I look forward to finding out ❣️ People who don't like the sound of a sewing machine must not have had a Grandmother or Mother that made clothing or quilts. My mom made both, there were nine kids in my family. I am #8. So many of my scraps are a history of my family's clothing and I love seeing them. My mom was a material girl, she loved buying fat quarters, I have literally given away bags to a sister in-law that makes purses. I am still left with more than I will ever use, and I can't help myself...I still buy occasionally. The sewing machine is a productive and happy sound to me. I guess fabric flips are next. I might have enough ruffles. I can't wait for the clusters 😁 Many thanks Gayle, Hugs 🤗

Good morning Gayle. I, too, am a quilter. Tearing fabric is what I prefer. I does make the fabric “straight” but that’s straight of grain. I learned that when I was making garments. For a quilter, we/they insist that using a ruler makes the fabric straight. Tomato tomotto. I love making fab flips! Can’t wait for scrappy Saturday!! 😊😊❤

Yay for the people commenting that they love the sound of a sewing machine! I am so glad that you went ahead and did the sewing demo. It will be a year that I have my sewing machine which I bought specifically for journal making. How often do you change your needle? Whether or not you decide to continue to sew on camera just know that I appreciate all that you do. In fact some of the tips you have given on sewing has helped me as a beginner to not be so intimated by my machine. Gayle you are the best, literally I was feeling worn out from work and watching your videos absolutely make my day! Thank you for your joy, passion, and kindness. @@lynnsinclair123 LOL loved your reply! I'm not a hugh fan of sewing either because I'm not that good at it. My first experience with sewing was Home Ec in Middle School. As the teacher was explaining how to be cautious, I stepped (stomped) on the foot pedal and proceeded to run my hand under the needle. Thankfully it snapped off and just had to be pulled out of my index finger. Probably my first trip to the office to see the nurse. After watching Gayle, I'm going to get into my stash of material and try to remember how to thread my machine as well....have a great weekend 😀

Good morning Gayle!! Beautiful fabrics you have in your stash!! 🥰 Isn't it fun playing with fabric and getting strings everywhere? There like magnets to our clothes!! 😂 Love the flips you made and I might have the courage to try a ruffle. Have an awesome Friday...💜

Good morning Gayle💕 Awesome fabric play and thank for the tip about the size of the ruffle, I have so many fabrics and if I decide to make these now I know the preferred size. Ty💗 I hope the weather is okay there, just saw our friend Eve post a photo of a lot of snow. We are getting a Ice Storm right now after having a few days of warm weather. All the snow was gone! 😩 Have a fabulous day, hugs! 🤗

Happy Friday Gayle! This tutorial was great for both novices and long time seamstresses as myself. Everyone has their own little tricks which I find valuable. BTW I find the sewing machine sound very soothing whomever doesn’t like it can always use the volume button on their device. No offense to those. We still need and want to see how you create things. Hugz & luv! 💖

Happy Friday Gayle! I stamped on muslin strips and I think I’m going to make ruffles, also I used rub on’s from dollar tree and put them a muslin too, came out nice. I used coffee dyed and non coffee dyed material. I took foil paper, crumbled it up and opened back up and used oxides and sprayed with water and got texture on my tags. Have a wonderful Friday and weekend too. 👍🌸🌸🌸

Lovely as usual. I enjoyed the fabric refresher. Where do you ever find your beautiful laces?

The laces at the tops of the fabric flips were from Hobby Lobby. The lace going down the flip I found on Etsy. I need to try and find some more of that one! ❤

I don’t even know if mine has one! 😂. I really like this method for journal making because of the flatness. I don’t know if the ruffle attachment would know what I want! Lol! 😂❤

When you mentioned that your quilter friends are amazed that your tear fabric instead of cut it, I was reminded of how my cat hears the sound of tearing fabric and comes running, thinking it is play time! If I am making fabric strips for any reason, he thinks the strips are meant for his enjoyment and sometimes grabs them out of my hands! Funny but annoying.
