Just a quick comment while I remember it. In Niv-Mizzets text the " sign can mean that it is a number. So "Niv-Mizzet = number 1" ;)

The phrase "Guild Champion" refers to a cycle of legendary creatures that aren't the Guildmasters. Teysa is an example of this in Guildpact. Djinn Illuminatus is not the Izzet Champion; that would be Tibor and Lumia. The Gruul "Champion" isn't an official guild member, because Ulasht the Hate Seed is too wild. It counts as their champion because it's wild fury is something that they can aspire to.

Screw you Evan, the Nephilims are really popular in the EDH community. "We" have been asking wizards for years to errata them to legendary creatures, but so far without success. Great video, thank you so much for doing this series.

Interesting point: Abe Sargent got REALLY, REALLY upset about the Nephilim cycle, because of the name, and wrote an interesting diatribe on them. I think he was overreacting at the time. When I get around to covering this set in my series, I will have a ton of interesting things to say about the Nephilim. Yes, I am very glad that you put the Craig Jones clip in. Randy's reaction was a classic. As usual, superlative work.

Eh, I don't think it's any of my business (or yours) telling him he doesn't have the prerogative to have that reaction. Magic has had people find some of its tropes offensive. And while I don't see it the same way, who am I or you to say what they should think? We aren't pure people of ration.

As I recall, his complaint was that Nephilim are obscure & specific figures in an active religion. Okay. Did he get pissed off at Kamigawa? Kamigawa had Shinto & Buddhist shite up the arse. If he didn't then it's just more Christian shite about how they should be treated special because they believe some shite about a creating deity...just like damn near every person ever.

I think that there are differences between being principled and being rational. Abe was being principled. That's how I saw his position, rather than being irrational. He found that the idea of raiding Jewish apocrypha was offensive. I don't hold to his principles the same way that he does, but I have a pluralistic perspective. I don't have all the answers, and I don't claim to have them, either. And I am not willing to hold principles as inherently irrational or idiotic, except if they hurt others. And I don't think that Jewish apocryphal interpretations hurt anyone. (I don't have any interest in discussing how other faiths interpret those apocrypha, seeing as how I don't have any particular interest in those faiths.) It's like Madonna cherry-picking Kabbalah to him. It's an issue of cultural appropriation. I don't see it the same way, but if that's how he thinks about it, I respect his position, even if I don't hold it. I'm not telling you to embrace his position, either. I just try to acknowledge people's feelings and think that we should note objections.

Evan this episode, like the set it covers, was a faithful and interesting followthough to the one before it. That said, a little more content would have been nice - in particular context for the pro tour moment showcased, and perhaps a few more cards. But, the editing on this video wason point. The pictures were beautiful and beautifully suited to what you were saying, and th3ir timing and placement were perfect. So this was a very nice and good video. Thank you for making itl
