Funny thing is that you'd need two controllers because when you connect an external one to the switch lite it detects both the console and the controller as player one. So, you would need two controllers, and a way to put down the switch lite... You'd be in a very rough tabletop mode.
@lillie_trash6 ай бұрын
Switch lite main here, its just worse tabletop mode because you need 2 controllers still and a kickstand because it recognizes the first paired controller alongside the built in controls as player 1 for some reason (you can turn off the lite controls but its only until the next sleep mode and is weirdly deep in settings)

3:53 The adjustable charging stand is wonderful for two reasons: desktops and airplanes. First, it's far more comfortable to disconnect the joycon and use the Switch in tabletop mode when flying on an airplane. This charging stand is more stable than the kickstand on the vanilla Switch, although the OLED stand was way better. Second, if you play Switch at your desk for any length of time, the charging stand is the ideal place to put it. The Switch can comfortably sit below a computer monitor, so your Switch can be part of a desktop setup. 13:28 The Switch stylus is seriously underrated. Most soft tip styluses (styli?) use cheap rubbery plastic or silicone that doesn't feel nice to use, but the Switch stylus has a lovely metal mesh almost like a microphone. It makes an excellent stylus for smartphones as well as the Switch. Well worth fifteen bucks.

I know 8bitdo makes a portable controller with joysticks. But I think it would be perfect if they used 3DS style circle pads

I almost exclusively use my switch in tabletop mode but never use the kickstand because it can just be propped up better on literally anything else and have no need for the charging stand because a regular charging cord works perfectly fine with minimal changes to the setup needed. Ultimately that is the biggest problem with these switch accessories, it is easier and better to just take the two seconds to think about how to set it up within your environment by using your environment to help you instead of paying stupid amounts of money for inconvenient accessories to solve your non-issues.

The joycon grip also acts as a pretty good stand for extra joycons

North America did get the Switch stylus. As a preorder bonus for Mario Maker 2, it came with a themed version based on the game.

The tabletop mode was actually really useful for group settings where you don’t have access to the tv. I remember back in high school my friends and I would sometimes set it up tabletop mode and play smash or Mario kart together and it worked great.

I bought two of those USB C docks since they're some of the best docks out there, period. SUPER small and compact, low strain on the device's connector, good for phones, and decent amount of viewing angles.

I use the adjustable charging stand a lot. Since I have multiple Switches in my life, I use the stand to place a switch on my desk when doing trades between Pokemon games. The other best use is for sitting on the couch and being able to plug in the charging cable on the side instead of the bottom. Love that stand.

the charging stand was actually useful for playing in bed when the battery was low since they had the port on the bottom

You really only need the joy con charging grip if you don’t want to get a pro controller. I mean they should have put a small battery in the middle section of the grip.

I purchased the Joycon Charging grip day 1. It was an excellent purchase since I didn't have to get my ass up and put them back on the switch all the way across the room.

He featured the Wii-like wheel which is similar, but the accessory that I was always the most interested in and I know would be useless to me is the grip that you can fit a single Joycon into to make it shaped like a regular controller. It have no doubt that it would feel better than just the Joycon on its side, but I also never ever use a Joycon on its side.

I remember that when the Switch was first announced, there were a lot of youtube experts making videos of why it was going to fail. And one of their biggest grievances was "not being able to charge the controller without the console"

I actually don't play portably, but I do play in either TV or Tabletop mode. I just don't like holding the console, I really love Tabletop mode for that.

Its interesting to hear different perspectives on the charging joycon grip. I've been using it almost religiously since 2020 since I prefer a 3ds style layout for most games, and even though my joycon are connected to my switch when not being used, it isn't always plugged in with my setup. Personally I feel it to be perfect for my specific set up but I'd love to hear more cons about it! (I do think id shouldve been included in the default bundle but its standalone price didn't seem terrible tbh)

Use my adjustable stand for when I travel. This was before portable screens became affordable. I still use it when I don't feel like hauling my screen around which is quite often.
@SuperVoodude6 ай бұрын
When the Switch came out, I didn't have access to a TV at the moment so I couldn't play while docked. So when my friend and I wanted to play Super Bomberman R, I set the Switch up on a milk crate so I could weave the charging cable through the holes and have the Switch charged while we were playing. Pretty proud of my ingenuity, but playing on a screen that small with someone else gave me a headache so I never did it again... 😅

I remember seeing people use the BOTW guardian amiibo as a stand, it had articulated "arms" so it could hold the switch and you could still run the charging cable in. That amiibo became even harder to get hold of than the rest...
@metroid39866 ай бұрын
Don't know about anyone else, but I mainly play the switch while it's laying on my lap or stomach (would use the case to prop it up), and it being very inconvenient to charge while playing like that was a big problem, so that stand would be very handy for me. Never seen it sold where I live though, but nowadays I bought a simple generic plastic stand with a hole at the bottom to put the charger through, and as a bonus it works with a phone and not just the switch.

Scott’s complaints about the Adjustable Charging Stand show how little he flys anywhere. I absolutely Adore the Adjustable Charging Dock when I’m flying, even more so when I have long layovers and my Switch regularly dies.
