"The Hero of Neverwinter stops Morag and escapes the Source stone, everyone's happy"..."almost everyone" should've been there. I doubt Aribeth was happy, considering what ended up happening to her, and neither was I. That was a really shitty move on Nasher's part.
@LupusAries7 жыл бұрын
Yub, I agree I did hate that ending, as Aribeth just got royally screwed in that campaign. (....and not in the good way. ;) ) You are certainly not alone in your views, and you might like these modules then: neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/aribeths-redemption-chapter-one neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/aribeths-redemption-chapter-two neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/aribeths-redemption-chapter-three neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/module/aribeths-revival-i-cep-versions Haven't played them, but the redemption ones do sound interesting. And yeah totally not Canon, but in cases like this, FUCK THE CANON! :D
@andrewvincent72996 жыл бұрын
It's a touchy subject to be honest. While Aribeth can be redeemed, it doesn't change the fact that she joined forces with the Luskans who were behind the plague and who almost conquered the city of Neverwinter. Many lives were lost because of Morag and the Luskans. If it were not for the Hero, Neverwinter would have fallen and Aribeth was mostly responsible for that. It's hard to look at it from an objective standpoint as many of us loved Aribeth but she still betrayed the city she swore fealty to and was almost responsible for it falling. She did deserve death.
@MoonMoverGaming6 жыл бұрын
Also, Morag definitely wasn’t happy.
@Niggurath-n4h3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewvincent7299 I know it was two years late, but writers in the game clarify that there should have been a romance option for the player character and Aribeth. With that option it can save her from joining the bad guys. But sadly it was not included as they where out of time as the consequences of this love option will need a major reworks of the game. It was cut content because of the fact they need to release the game on time. Which basically means that the canon story should be that we can save Aribeth.
@justnick7691 Жыл бұрын
@@Niggurath-n4h The canon story is that one way or another she dies and is romanceable in the Hordes of the Underdark expansion where she and the next player character live happily ever after into the afterlife.

I've been running a political thriller mass combat extension of Lost Mines of Phandelver. One of the players started a communist revolt in Phandalin and I decided to run with it. Currently I'm running a 3 faction gameset with a communist guerilla insurgency, a fascist dictatorship, and a crony capitalist authoritarian all competing for control of Neverwinter. Thus, this video and the background was super useful thank you. Looks like the game will be wrapping up with a mass combat at Neverwinter in the next couple weeks.

Honestly the modern concept of Communism is sort of difficult to claim as a concept without the industrial revolution of Russia. If anything if a communist revolution was to happen it would be among the lower classes in Thay, with the oppression in that Nation, it would be interesting to maybe have lower class Wizards revolt against them. Honestly a Zhentarim (the Black Network and greater mercantile organization) vs a Thayan Communist Revolution would be interesting.

Been binge watching your videos since I found your channel a few weeks ago while in the hospital. Absolutely love your content and channel. Was a big D&D nerd growing up and was always enthralled by all the lore. You do a great job explaining things in-depth. Your channel is severely underrated and deserves many more subs! Even though much of what I have been viewing is a year old or so, I really hope you keep up the great work and continue to make top-tier D&D content. With the recent resurgence in interest in nerdy things like Magic: The Gathering and D&D, I hope you will continue to make new content. Your channel has singlehandedly renewed my interest and love for pen-and-paper RPGs. I sincerely thank you for that. Cheers, mate! *Here ends my new subscriber ass-kissing comment*

@@Jorphdan - No thanks needed. I felt compelled to leave an honest comment about your great channel and comment. As previously stated, I've been binge-watching all your videos since discovering your channel while laid up in the hospital and needed to express how enjoyable and helpful they've been. Like you, I always enjoyed the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. I've found each lore video entertaining and informative, and I'm happy that they've singlehandedly reinvigorated my interest in playing D&D... Apologies, as I'm repeating myself from my previous comment of praise. Looking forward to your future videos... once I've finally caught up and viewed all your back catalog of content. Keep on making videos on about Forgotten Realms. There is SO much interesting lore to keep you busy for a few more years, seeing as how it is one of oldest and most expanded campaign settings in D&D. Would you ever consider maybe doing some videos on Ravenloft as well in the future? I know FR is your main focus, but really love your style of explaining D&D lore over pretty much every other channel I would love to see you take on some Ravenloft lore in the future. There actually is some crossover between other settings and Ravenloft, as it is sort of a sub-universe / setting (like how Soth from Dragonlance ended up as a cursed undead knight in Ravenloft... at least in a few novels), so I'm sure there's some cross-campaign lore you could dig up and make interesting without having to stray far from your channel's main focus content. Anyways, thanks for replying and keep up the great work. Here's to hoping your channel eventually gets the subs and attention it truly deserves!

My character is currently trapped in Barovia and for some reason the count is keeping me alive despite killing off members of both my family and friends. His ambitions have gone beyond Ravenloft and he seeks to take over the material plane as well. It is quite the plot! As the heir to the north I play a huge role in this plot and I question what will happen next. My dm is very creative.

LORE ERROR ALERT! Morag's sarrukh empire fell when Faerun's Ice Age began, in a time when most of Faerun was a tropical jungle. Faerun's Ice Age ended with the great ocean receding and the other creator races began to dominate Faerun in -35000 DR. That's a lot more than ten thousand years in the year Neverwinter Nights is set in, NWN is set in 1372 DR, which would mean Morag's sarrukh empire would have existed and fallen back in -8628 DR, and the problem with that is the Ice Age of Faerun that wiped out her empire, forcing her to hide in the source stone, canonically happened far longer ago before -8628 DR, ending in -35000 DR. So technically, setting the record straight, Morag's empire predates all other sarrukh empires that rose up after the Ice Age ended. The Age Of Thunder is after the Ice Age ended, meaning Morag's empire must have canonically been around in a time long before the first recorded historical details of the Forgotten Realms was made, like during the Shadow Epoch, when the Faerunian gods were at war against primordials like Dendar The Night Serpent, who swallowed the sun, starting Faerun's Ice Age.

The Source Stone didn't cause the Wailing Death. Morag's cult killed the priests of Helm at Helm's Hold who then impersonated them and instead of giving people blessings they gave them the plague. This is all out in the open at the end of chapter 1 when you have to raid Helm's Hold, and hinted at if you go to one of the priests and ask for a blessing you get a blessing indicator however the spell you are seeing is clearly a negative energy spell.
