The ending really hit me hard today with how it feels like a Toriyama tribute. More on the nose stuff like the feather and bird imagery (as pointed out by AnimeAjay) and also the lyrics mentioning mountains and birds, and the last few lyrics just kill me "I hear it always, your voice in my heart 'You know that we're never alone'"

I can certainly see what you mean with the opening compared to other anime personally I kind of prefer the more laid-back toned the opening has along with its animation like don’t get me wrong I’m sure that a lot of work was put into those other openings but at least for me they’re a little bit too active for my taste much like some of the more crazier animation in those other shows like I said I know a lot of work was put into making that animation Look as crazy as it is but my heart will always lean more towards the classic Kanada style movement, action, and character acting X3

I'm afraid I can't relate to the apathy of the opening. It had me tearing up. It felt soft and playful yet energetic and playful. Its an opening for a series about goofy lil guy Goku going on an adventure with some pals, old and new. It was mirthful and upbeat and earnest. Perfert vibe for the series so far. This isn't dimensional shattering tribal space opera Broly, or bombastic heroic comic book riot Superhero. It's a celebration of adventure and fun Dragon Ball started out as.

How long has it been since Piccolo and Bulma went on a long adventure? Are Bulma and Pansy gonna be besties? Goku and Veg battling then accidently colliding and fightin each other. Its more about the themes than the visuals though the flying islands are perfecf.

I really do feel next to ALL eras in it & it prob took some cues in the jrpg inspiration Tori is puttin in this series. I loved it visually & the song is so wonderful & puts it all together so neat. Similar wit the ED. I'm never skippin these on my life idc lol. I'm the half that never forgot the bardock special lol. Honestly, yeah, this is certainly limited compared to last episode especially in the second half, but even so at least for me The extra subtle bits of animation like hair movement or even some of the nice angles despite the standard storyboard makes it a pretty enjoyable episode for me and if this is the standard animated daima episodes, until bigger animated action heavy episodes, I’ll certainly be OK with that. I actually found the limited animation here a little charming. Like they wanna make sure that this is a more laid-back episode to save time for more important episodes, but they still wanna add a little bit of extra touches to make the characters still feel alive kind of reminds me of early Wano arc before they started having crazy web gen animators X3

Honestly still undecided. The recent one especially was nice. But when it comes to the more important episodes I would prefer someone else. I just don't feel he would be able to give the gravitas to the more serious moments. But hey I'm happy to be proven wrong. In regards to storyboarding every episode? I mean he is extremely quick at drawing and it isn't totally unheard of for the series director to storyboard a whole season (Ping Pong the animation), but if this series is gonna go past 20 episodes I just can't see it. Unless the storyboard role is later split between two people for future ep's, like one half for ex. might be boarded by an action specialist while everything outside that is boarded by Yashima.

Honestly I feel hair can look a bit overly floppy in that game, and some animations in cutscenes look weirdly mocap like which is weird for DragonBall.
@turbotrup9626 күн бұрын
@@ginogatash4030 Yeah, it doesn't catch the vibe of the series, and japanese devs have been more aggressively using mocap in Anime games since about a console generation earlier, even in stuff like Berserk... I guess they're trying to cut time/resources since it's easier to make someone pose than to animate them by hand, I guess.
@ginogatash403026 күн бұрын
@@turbotrup96 at least Berserk is kinda realistic-ish looking so it's not as jarring, but mocap for DragonBall looks fucked.
@turbotrup9626 күн бұрын
@@ginogatash4030 I get what you mean, but I disagree, because japanese people often exaggerate their movement to look more dramatic, jumpy. Now combine that with Guts who has a giant, heavy sword on his back, and wears armor...
@ginogatash403026 күн бұрын
@@turbotrup96 I think that depends on the directing of the actors tho, there's Japanese games with more subdued realistic movement, and still my point was just that mocap for Berserk was better suited compared to something as stylized as dragon ball since Berserk is at least relatively more realistic looking, I think mocap animation would still need tweaks to look right, but seeing Guts move like a real person is still less jarring than Goku.

Really good video, yes some parts did feel stiff at times as you mentioned with the lack of movement in Gokū's hair despite Takahashi being one of many who actually does put alot into those details. @ginogatash403026 күн бұрын
That seems kinda pessimistic for no reason, like for one Super was extremely rushed and was made weekly while this series seems to adopt the modern anime season format, or at least it had much more work put into preproduction before releasing episodes. Some episodes will definitely be less animated than others but that's to be expected in any series, and it's unlikely to ever reach the lows of early Super, and while that series had some decent looking episodes till 5 happened they really didn't have anything crazy like the reanimated Buu arc flashbacks of episode 1 of Daima, and certainly not any episodes that packed with Sakuga action and character acting stuff.
