The bar fight scene was my favourite from that episode. Mini Goku in a bar beating bad guys to a pulp, it was so nicely animated with the spins, the burger in his mouth, using the plates and his pole. I rewatched the bar fight a couple of times, Love it. 🔥

I really loved the background music, it is very very JRPG, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy type music makes the whole adventure aspect even more fun to watch. I also love the new approach of next episode previews being extremely extremely short and not revealing much. Overall this episode was a very fun watch when it aired and personally I hope we get more lore about who exactly Warp Sama is because he does remind me of the Oracle Fish and I wonder if the both of them are of the same species or not or if Warp is an artificial being (highly unlikely) . Overall I can't wait to see what's more to come and who this mysterious king of the third demon world is and if Glorio is truly trustworthy.

Daima definitely wasn't the first DB animation to showcase Jackie Chan style moves, early DBZ movies really took a lot from old Jackie Chan movies. Even Resurrection F lifted it's fights from famous 70's and 80's Hong Kong martial arts movies, not just Bruce Lee's One Inch Punch mind you. I'm gonna try to do a side by side of it when I get the chance, have always loved both DB and JC choreo.

I saw Chris posting up Daima on his insta story when it was announced. He rarely shares announcements like that unless he's on a production so it's possible he was teasing his involvement. In regards to Chansard and Ota, I would've said no if you had asked me a month ago but considering the OP anime has now gone on break, you might see a small guest appearance? Although if it was to happen, my guess is it would be towards the end of the series.

5:14 This is what I always disliked about modern DB animation - it lacked that Z style of impact which made punches and kicks feel so much more powerful. It wasn't exclusive to the 2nd half of the show either, just look up Vegeta vs Recoome. Interestingly enough, they still have been using it at least in the RoF Movie. Example: Goku's famous one-inch punch followed by an immedient kick that Freeza blocks. Anyway, I don't think Daima is pulling it off well (yet). Super sometimes tried to copy it (Gogeta VS Broly, Vegito VS Zamasu) - but with its overly smooth animation and weak sound design, it just didn't work.
@gibbsduhem106623 күн бұрын
Sounds like a whole load of confirmation bias tbh. That's like saying limited animation is better than what we are getting here. They aren't trying to copy everything from the old dbz style but they are trying integrate it with modern techniques. In this scene, they did an outstanding Job. You gotta accept that not every element modern animation has is bad, like you literally mention smoothness as an element that takes away the dbz feel lmao
@Tornado71-pt7qe23 күн бұрын
How about Super Dragonball Heroes anime Goku vs Hearts?the Animation. Was clean there too
@turbotrup9623 күн бұрын
@@gibbsduhem1066 The problem with your logic is that you think smoother/newer automatically means better. And that's horse s***. This is exactly why old DB feels so much more unique to modern Anime. If the essence of DB's animation style was related to its year of production, I don't care. It just was iconic. Meanwhile, current DB animation looks like current One Piece. But, ok, I'm guessing you don't care about soul, the original charm of the series... It still doesn't change the fact the impacts felt more dynamic because of how snappier they were. When you overnaimate a swing, it feels slower. This is the same case when you play older video games vs newer. Like, compare DMC3/4 with 5, or Metal Gear Rising with Nier Automata, or Kingdom Hearts 2 with 3. I mean, you literally have some examples here, do you think ANY punch in Super felt like those, in terms of power? Like, do you remember Jiren VS Blue Vegeta? In that one episode that looked exceptionally good, as if Yamamuro in his peak drew it. The hit impacts there STILL sucked ass. Jiren's hits felt like SLAPS in comparison to the Z's style of attacks. I'm not exaggerating. Look it up. The timing of frames is VERY important. you can't just expect that smooth animation will solve everything.
@gibbsduhem106622 күн бұрын
@@turbotrup96 the problem with your statement is that you think limited animation has impact. Well, it does but not like this. Animating a small portion of your body doesn't distribute the impact well imo. The bar scene did a pretty good job because the technique was applied in situations that worked well, like when the punch was blocked for some time to show both characters were struggling, and when he grabbed the guys hand for a while to show he was struggling. Now, the majority of the cuts he showed from dbz, the technique was applied in situations that didn't necessarily need it, like a successful punch. There's no need for that unless you want depict impact in the most limited way, and that's why you see the vigorous camera shakes with the animation being looped momentary to depict impact. Dbz really overused these to save budget, otherwise there were animated cuts in comparison. It's okay if you prefer that, but I think animating every element of the body works better in that case. A great example is when goku gets punched by jiren in episode 109 and the camera switches to gokus face that gets animated fully instead of being placed in a loop, that's a perfect way to depict the impact of the blow. If that was old dbz, they would simply place in few frames and do the occasional loop animations on some part of the body. I don't get how that somehow carries impact. It works well given they had limited resources, but using that in modern times in those scenes is not going to elevate the scene. The jiren vs vegeta find was clearly limited. It lacked smoothness and that's the essence you were looking for. Only difference is, it lacked the needles camera shakes, and the speed lines to depict impact. I think some cuts were looped last I checked. All in all, it got nerfed primarily because it was limited, and not because of smoothness. They didn't let yuya takahashi realize he's vision. Thank God he had the chance to in broly. Those cuts were as fluid as they could be, I imagine your eyes were craving for limited animation in the majority of the cuts in broly. So much needless confirmation bias! I don't know how games have anything to do with hand drawn animation tbh. All in all, it's okay to prefer the old style but you gotta at least have some proper points to back it up instead of calling well animated cuts limited. Animation is subject but your points to support opinion are uneducated.
@turbotrup9622 күн бұрын
@@gibbsduhem1066 Z used it during the best animated sequences, so you're already wrong there. I've watched that 109 ep. gut punch just now, and it looks worse than the impacts in Z. And Z also used that similar technique anyway, like when Goku gut punched 100% Freeza. Though, it looked better there. You can look it up on YT, it's easy to find. Did you know that even Jackie Chan stated that to make a hit feel more powerful on camera, it's good to repeat it a few times in a row? kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGKzdKd_lrKSfbM The Broly movie had the best fight scenes in modern DB. That being said, yes, they never got the impact of the attacks quite as well as Z did. Video games also work with frames, like cartoons/anime. More modern video games often have a much more fancy animation partly because it's mocapped, but because of that attacks look so smooth that they don't feel as sudden. It's an illusion, but it works.
@spitfiremanlizerd22 күн бұрын
The story, setting and concept are all uninteresting. But the animation is keeping this from being insultingly bad like super. For me, it's enough to make an attempt and being whimsical and look good. Daima has good intentions, it's not just exploiting the audience for a quick cash grab.
