derbigpr500 it's a desktop printer for a reason.
@derbigpr5008 жыл бұрын
I know it's a desktop printer, I worked with it for almost half a year. I'm just saying this to help people not throw their money away and then get horribly disappointed when they realize the quality of prints on this machine are nowhere near as good as they expect. I've probably printed over 300 models on one, probably 10 came out acceptable. The rest needed heavy post processing to fit into parts that they fit perfectly into in a CAD program with proper spacing in between them. SLS printing is far superior and more accurate, if not as nice in terms of surface finish.

Well that escalated quickly.

There are a lot of useful things you can print with 3D printers depending on your individual life style. This type of printer would be better for someone who mass produces objects, has some kind of business that demands this kind of detail and quality, or just someone who has the money to waste to make really cool detailed action figures such as those war game ones you want to print. For an average everyday consumer such as you (at least im assuming you dont have a business that would benefit from this printer) and me a 3D printer such as the ultimaker (what im going to eventually get) would be a better choice. 3D printers like the ultimaker can create many useful things for people like us. From smartphone accessories such as stands or passive amplifiers (that is to say simple speakers), to simple tools (like plastic hammers, screwdrivers, and wrenches). Even things as exotic as a tampon magazine holder (no kid a plastic gun magazine that holds tampons instead of bullets 😂😂). The applications are endless. Not trying to convince you to buy a 3D printer just givin some ideas.

Great review - this is what everybody who tells me that SLA printing is "a messy job" should watch. Never ever dissolve resin on your skin with alcohol. The resin will dissolve in the alcohol and the alcohol will be absorbed in your skin - and so will the resin!!! Wipe any resin from your skin using paper towels, then use a mild soap or a garage soap to wash your hands. When needed then use alcohol wipes to clean your hands. At 10:25 you are taking the model out of the IPA with your hand. WEAR GLOVES! The IPA has dissolved resin in it.

Great review, of what appears to be a great bit of tech. This is the level of detail I hoped we'd see from 3D printing, so I'll be keeping a keen eye on the progress of SLA printers. The material and equipment costs are still too high for home CAD design and printing to be worthwhile for all but the most custom of applications, but I'm blown away by the quality, especially that tiny replica gun you printed. Great to see you passionately talking about tech again!

I wonder how long they'd last though, they'd certainly scratch more.
@CommodoreFan648 жыл бұрын
and I doubt really odd prescriptions like mine that I've never found any 1hr glasses store to be able to do, and they always have to special order them which usually takes 2 weeks would be able to be done by a printer such as this.
@Braeden1236987458 жыл бұрын
I just think it's a question of hardness. Plastic scratches
@CommodoreFan648 жыл бұрын
Braeden Hamson Right, and since I'm nearly blind in my right eye mine can't be made out of plastic to start with because of the thickness of the special glass needed, and if you want something like UV coatings, better scratch protection, or even something like transitions so you only need one pair, then you just won't be able to do it on a machine like this. anyplace that says $79 gets you 2 pairs of quality glasses for me is bullshit as I'm usually charged upwards of $300+ US because of all of this for a single pair.
@BloodSprite-tan8 жыл бұрын
plastic scratches but it doesn't shatter. you can always just buff it to shiny again anyway. and that's beside the fact that you can get pretty hard plastics that don't scratch easy.

In my Graphic Design class, we have a 3D printer like this one. It's very good for printing anything that has a lot of crevices,dips,and very intricate designs. I also like it better that other printers, because you usually don't have to worry about having to remove support material

Correction: Clear, Grey, Black, High Temp and Castable Resin can print at 25 microns. Which is most of their resins. The rest can only print at 50 microns. They don't list the print resolution for the dental resin, but at $399 I'm pretty sure it prints at 25 microns.
@Barnacules8 жыл бұрын
+William Hayden you sure? I'll try the Black again but I recall only getting 50 micron. If I'm wrong that makes this printer far more impressive.
@williamhayden77118 жыл бұрын

It is rather odd White only prints in 100 or 50 microns. Looking forward to future videos with this printer. I can't afford one, but watching video's and lusting is cheap! :) Thanks for all you do.
@Chaosghoul8 жыл бұрын
Hey Barnacules and William. To answer these: ental SG only prints in 50microns. Black Version 02 prints 100, 50 and 25 microns. White doesn't print on 25 Microns because we decided it's unnecessary to print at this layer height, you won't be able to see any layers when printing at 50, even at 100 it's very hard to do on white. I'm super happy that you like our machine and am looking forward to what you'll be printing next with it :) Keep up the awesome videos you're producing, I'm glad to see you're back to making this type of content. hey, Jerry. there's something really cool I want to tell you. one of the 3D printers in my Tech Lab at school print using a support material that dissolves in hydrochloric acid and completely removes the need for a clean up. as awesome as this is there's even more. The printer can print moving parts without having to cut them up separately and snap them together. I think the coolest thing we've printed with it so far was a miniature planetary gearbox type of fidget thing. we also printed a functional replica of a shock for a car , although it would probably work best for an RC car cuz it's really small.

I realy like the quality of the prints, but this way to expensive for me. I'll stick with FDM.
@wesleyforeman54888 жыл бұрын
Benonator I agree. If you find you absolutely need an STL print quality of material there are services that will print them for you. Just like if you made Code but it would only run on a powerful computer, here you can CAD and prototype on your FDM and when your ready to see it in the design material you can have an STL do it for you.
@quasimotu8 жыл бұрын
i think there also might be a thingaverse about making a stl printer with a digital projector but you'd have to put some time into it. there's also the ono (i think) that projects images from your phones camera, and other stl printers. but i haven't really looked into any of them because if i wanted to print a detailed sculpt i will just print a 3 foot upscaled model on a prusa XD
