I have always loved the beautiful Herons! Saw my first one in Nassau in 1958. What a gorgeous plane. Excellent video. Thanks very much.

The pembroke was the first aircraft i ever flew in

Even though I've seen them take off and land before I still didn't realise just how fast the Pembroke's mains retracted. Very snappy for an aircraft of the era

It really does seem that there was a Pembroke that flew from Eureka to San Francisco carrying mail in the early to mid seventies. I could hear them do prop and mag checks late in the evenings and I was 5 or 6 miles away, never again.....

that specific type of Heron was in use by PRINAIR in the 70's until the airline was close. I remember seen them flying coming in from locations usually at the same time. Also have the opportunity to fly in one. At that time was $14 for the ticket. Memories. Thank for posting.

The good looking Heron could be a modern aircraft with its update engine fit, but given a choice of a ride, it would have to be the Pembroke. Great video ..
@TommyOlsson7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rory! I have had the nice experience to flown both of them (as a pax that is :-) But as sad news I can inform you that the Pembroke will never fly again, this individ has been scrapped by the owner a while ago now. RIP!
@RoryTrackrod7 жыл бұрын
Are you sure about that, as SE-BKH is still listed as an exhibit at the museum. ..
@TommyOlsson7 жыл бұрын
No, SE-BKH isnt longer listed at the museum. It is scrapped. Im the admin for the Museums website.
@RoryTrackrod7 жыл бұрын
What a pity, it looks in such good condition. Is there a story attached to its scrapping? ..
@TommyOlsson7 жыл бұрын
Well, what can I say - the short story is that the owner didnt want to pay rent for the Pembroke in our Museum. "Sir Percy" has been standing outside with no shelter for a couple of years and disrepair before they scrapped it. Very sad indeed.

The Pembroke looks like a radial engine version of the Aero commander, very nice.
@TommyOlsson6 жыл бұрын
Yes, thats true. :-) Sorry to say, but this individ is now scrapped and gone to the Aircraft heaven.
@josephlambe27963 жыл бұрын

Sorry but flat engines on the Heron just look wrong. Find some Gipsy Queens to hang on her as she should be.

Too bad Alexandria Ocasio Cortes will have you guys scrap these in under five years!
