This video breaks down formative assessments for any type of teacher or educator. It begins by offering some reasons why we should utilize formative assessment in the classroom. The are various types of assessments, but the video gives specific reasons why teachers should incorporate formative assessments. It also explain when it is appropriate to use formative assessments in relation to curriculum, class time, and units. Next, several examples of formative assessments are outlined. These examples are considered the top five examples of formative assessments. The first example given is hand signal one to five formative assessment. This is the best example for a whole class assessment. The next example is brainstorming. This formative example is followed by exit tickets. Exit tickets are probably the most familiar of all types of formative assessment examples. And the last example of a formative assessment is individual whiteboards. This video is part of an overall classroom assessment playlist and presented as part of a schools professional development. This is a great formative assessment to use in class.

The video is very good, but the sound in the back is a bit 'disburting', if you know what I mean. As an informative video the producer should ease the viewers' task. But above CONGRATS! It'a a really constructive message to everyone engaged in helping the learners.

Research shows Formative Assessment is where it's at. And the suggestions here are all pretty easy. The problem is that kids worry a lot about being embarrassed and you can't rely on them to tell you how they are doing or risk getting called out. That data is unreliable. The data also needs to be trackable.

I read the criticisms from the viewers in this video. It seems the creator doesn't like the idea of constructive criticism on how the way he portrayed gender. The comments made by the viewers were valid at all, and the creator of this video invalidated them by replying rude.

The problem with formative assessments is that we have a classroom full of kids. Some get it and some don’t. Your system slows the class down to the level of the weakest performer.

Unfortunate use of gender when defining a 'poor' teacher, and a 'master' teacher. You could also argue that the word 'master' also has gender connotations. -Education is about language and representation - equality & diversity.

Why are you protesting the fact that a black person was designated a master teacher and not the white person?? I bet you would find it more appropriate for the white person to be the "Master", you have serious issues and what you real agenda is...sad!

Super annoyed by the representation of female teachers in this video. Why are they drawn to look like they're posing for Playboy? Super rude and super distracting from the content of the video.
@TeachingsinEducation
@TeachingsinEducation 5 жыл бұрын
Taylor Toth, the only thing rude is your comment. The images drawn are provided by the software video scribe. I agree the women don’t appear to be drawn businesslike, but they surely don’t look like they are posing for playboy. I work hard to provide these videos for fellow educators, and your comment demonstrates your lack of appreciation and lack of class. In trying to be a hero, you’re the one coming off quite rude. Take your protest up with video scribe, not myself.

@laurahiatt6997 4 жыл бұрын
@@TeachingsinEducation He or she is not being rude or trying to be a hero at all. It's a valid point and you would do well to take the feedback. You might consider finding a different video scribe as you're the one posting the content and it's a representation of you.
@TeachingsinEducation

I do not use that image in any more of my videos. But its absurd to say the teacher looks like she is posing for playboy. In the image bank, I think it came up under home economics or art teacher. But to say she looks like a "playboy" is an absolute misrepresentation of the image.I do agree it can be offensive to some, thus I no longer use it. But it does NOT look like a "Playboy". Look at it again, if you don't believe me.
@pcworth
@pcworth 4 жыл бұрын
@@TeachingsinEducation Don't know about Playboy, but from an equity perspect, the bigger problem is that you portrayed the bad teacher as a woman and the master teacher as a man. It would have been so easy to use the same gender for both.
@Lyrical60
@Lyrical60 4 жыл бұрын
@@TeachingsinEducation The depictions of the women in the video are exaggerated anime-style illustrations with large breasts, small waists who are standing in the 'pigeon toe' style intended to make women look unthreatening and submissive. It's unconscious misogyny and you would do well to take the feedback on board. It is not rude to call out bias. The information in the video is very useful and it is a shame to have the images detract from your otherwise good work.

Excuse me ,but is it really nice to use a female teacher by giving an example of poor teacher and a male teacher for a master teacher?
@TeachingsinEducation
@TeachingsinEducation 5 жыл бұрын
Zekiye SEİS, you are cherry picking one video and making an irresponsible generalization about a sexist sentiment against women by my channel. If you watch ALL my videos, you’ll see that sometimes I’ll use men as a negative example and other times I’ll use women. This just happens to be an instance where I used a woman as a negative example. But that is NOT the case in the other videos. I find it quite disgusting how quickly you could make a judgement like that after only viewing this video. People like you just want to complain about something. Go back and watch all the videos, and if you see a pattern, then you can complain. Grandstander!
@sabrinaestrada6735
@sabrinaestrada6735 4 жыл бұрын
I don't think his examples should matter because the truth is both males and females can be poor or master teachers. It has nothing to do with gender. Your question suggests that only women should ever be portrayed as master teachers. That wouldn't be fair either.

The inappropriate use of teacher as a master and damn care teacher I didn't like in your video. You could have either used male/male or female/female to name these teachers. Since the topic is related to education, be thoughtful about such blunder... :(
