Former Amazon Games employee sets the record straight!

AGS did an awful job engaging with creators. They randomly selected non-NW creators for certain marketing pushes who insta-dropped the game as soon as they got paid, rather than work together for long term growth and success. Several PVP content creators offered FREE time to work with AGS on balancing and suggestions for content. To my knowledge, none of those were ever contacted. AGS had no innovation when it came to working with creators. They just went with old outdated models that simply didn't stick. Now, what's happened since? Most of the creators have abandoned the game and moved onto new ventures. Guy's like Danneh, Ploj, Mika, Jay etc have all moved on because AGS chose to ignore them mostly. People like Ploj knew the game inside and out and had big community support, why were they never engaged? Yet again, another example of AGS incompetence and failure. Duke, amazing content my guy. Really hope you land on your feet with a game, you are too good for this dumpster fire of a game

I personally sat on the top 12 streamers for nw for months. Myself nor even streamers ahead of me got contacted. It's a shame how they handled those that were pretty loyal and offered the community plenty of information.

New World was the peak and valley of pc gaming for me as I built my first one in 2021…it hurts. Thankful that it put me on to the genre tho. Good luck to this next generation.

Any employee who joined the New World team in 2023 or later was being set up to fail. The project seems to be constantly behind schedule and under-resourced, and the game's terrible reputation has already been cemented into the minds of nearly every gamer who would possibly be interested in such an MMO. How do you support content creators for a game with no meaningful content for extended periods of time? How can they create an organic community for a game that is all-in on the console port, when the console launch is 4+ months away and the beta is delayed (and is 'confidential' anyways)? These are all just impossible tasks, but I can imagine AGS leadership hiring some poor person and telling them on Day 1, "make this trailer go viral!"

They need to bring back whoever was in charge of creating the first trailer, and was responsible for the first quality of life changes like using inventory while moving, azoth cost reductions, and the ability to get rid of the opr ban when there was connection issues that led to dcs in OPR. I am certain that person no longer works for AGS as after the first few months of somewhat decent updates they completely changed their approach, closed forums and became very selective with what questions they answered This decision make the rising 70k active players at the time drop down to less than 20k and its continued to fall all the way down to 3k active. This alone should have been a sign something was wrong, yes they lost 1 mil players, but they had a steady comeback for a while then completely stopped trying and shit on their player base, and ruined the game we all once loved. Im certain that there is a narcissist at the top somewhere who is driving this game into the ground, taking feedback about the game personally and refusing to answer questions or make changes that they feel insult their work.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS, is the problem. This is the major problem in todays economics. Seriously we all need to start being more aware of who actually run these companies and that is the people who are on the Board of Directors. Stop and take a few minutes to google a few companies' Board of Directors and you will see just who is keeping the world fucked up.

New World is the biggest “What could’ve been” mmo. Such a dang shame it’s at 2.6k players. I’ve also never seen a dev team regurgitate a reworked MSQ multiple times and call it “content”

All they had to do was add more OPR maps. Improve rewards for OPR/3v3/Influence races. Then bide their time while working on pve content. Why was the 3v3 queue dead? Broken balance and on top of that dogwater rewards. If you could have attained BiS pieces in any of the pvp mentioned people would have kept doing it and thrived. Instead they offered trash tier updates that would get pushed back then released while still being broken. REPEATEDLY.

You're right insofar that by design, his role is in fact the one to take the blame. I meant to say that it's impossible to know if he's the one responsible, when he could be just as frustrated with decisions being made above his head.

@@chunkycat5296 Sure, I have issues with Scot's direction and choices, but the fundamental issues of bugs and content creation don't ring to me to be a problem of direction, but of manpower. When AGS consistently have to delay stuff and are unable to catch all bugs coming in, it's far more likely their QA department isn't sufficient, and that they don't have a large enough team to tackle bugs, both new and old. And considering what we know of Amazon, them being stingy with hiring budget is totally believable.

Content creators are not everything, but for sure they can drive hype and increase sales and increase participation. Many are absolutely great marketers. I watch Twitch streamers a bunch and I see it every day. They can give players good reasons to try a game, if the game is worth it. New World has been sadly neglected; streamers who put their faith into the game have had a rough time. Amazon needs to help them out with both a better game and more reasons to keep streaming it. Watching tge gameplay in this video makes me hate the game. The PvP in NW is just horrible. Its all about pulling, rooting and stunlocks. Its all just a cat and mouse gameplay of do dmg and chase, take dmg and run. An enemy looks at you the wrong way and you already lose momentum and are slowed to a crawl. Makes me wish it finally dead every time 😂

The combat is amazing in theory, but it's programmed so badly it fails... especially after the "combat update" that made it even worse. You rubberband all over the place. People don't really make it any better though. All OPRs and races are just people zergs targeting one or two players. 1v1 though?? It's actually decent
