This happens in every industry. I've gone through this and Im still suffering the burn, because I wouldn't get down with the program...get in your knees and show me how bad you want the promotion or come to my house party said the supervisor, that others was like stay away cause its nothing but an orgy...and those in video was bent over forever doing whatever the higher ups said, and bringing new prey to them. But no one would listen to me when I was telling it and trying to reveal it. I saw a lot who crossed over end up mental...but I was ushered to the door and black balled...and this is from an everyday average worker life, not even a celebrity type situation...so this shit happens everywhere.

You & DBrad are both correct in a way. House, being born of Disco, did not 'originate' as specifcally 'gay' music. What House like Disco did have was a significant audience and legendary artists who were part of the gay / lgbt community. Larry Levan, Nick Siano, Marshall Jefferson, etc. were in that 'life'. What DBrad is saying in my interpretation is that if you enjoyed House music and participated in the scene as a straight man, you probably were more tolerant of the gays who were in it because they were important parts of that scene. Being so-called 'homo-phobic' in House was less likely than other music scenes, they did their thing and you do yours. For the record I am straight and not deep into the House scene. I dig House music though and the parties bring crowds of fine women.

BET sold out on the black community, used the rapper to build the brand and belled on what built them. Any rapper can make all they had to is make the count down on one of the shows. Now up an coming artist has to go through the gate keepers. Sense they cancelled rap video notice that violence increased, that cause was in the house watching videos. Now they play the hell out of Tyler Perry, on old rerun shows.
