I can see why RM would have chosen this specific korean word for "more" as he's done this type of wordplay in other songs, as well. Specifically, in Ddeang, Idol, and his beautiful solo Trivia: Love!!!!! Plus he knew this Korea word could be misheard as the English word "money". RM is simply a lyrical genius, as all his Iyrics prove! For all the word play in Ddaeng and Idol watch DKDKTV interpretation of the Korean words RM choose specifically for these songs - sheer brilliance!!!!

BTS are the masters of symbolism. The talent of the entire production crew is off the charts. Speaking of producing, I just watched the production documentary of Jimins solo album Face. I am in no way knowledgeable on music production, but I have to say that entire documentary blew me away! You may of heard his album reflects on his state of mind during Covid. He was, like many, affected deeply. Pddog, Evan and I forgot the 3rd one, for me have a very unusual approach to the track. (For Me) BTS said they always lay the track first and then lyrics will follow. You probably also do it, too, but I was amazed how Like Crazy came into being. When you say BTS has some sounds like no other you have heard, maybe watching that documentary, you could identify some. Did you get any new equipment at the show?😊

Absinthe is a green liquor that may have hallucinogenic effects (the swirling colors after the drink.) One way to drink it is to pour it in an absinthe glass ( the one in the video) place a sugar cube on a stick on the rim, add droplets of absinthe and set on fire. It was popular in France in the Cafe society of artists from the 1800's until it was banned. Degas' Absinthe House is a snapshot of that era. Midnight in Paris is an homage to that era.

This is a song that is known well for Hobi and his great leading performance throughout the song. He definitely gets to show a lot of his vocal capabilities and his artistic abilities, as well as his amazing dancing and stage presence, as always. Cliffs notes on this is that it's about growing up. The song and MV are full of symbolism representing knowledge and the temptations and darker aspects of the world, and within the self, as a youth becomes an adult. The whole album Wings is based on the 1919 novel Demian by Hermann Hesse, which is a coming of age story set within the framework of German-Swiss Existentialist Philosophy and Jungian Psychology. Stylistically, they give many nods to the time period of the novel, which is the very early 20th century. Jin is the main character in the MV, and he eventually chooses to grow up, symbolized by kissing Abraxis, the dual God of Good & Evil, and thereby embracing his own darkness and becoming a fully realized person capable of creation and art. The world bursts with colors representing that potential. In the end, the shell of his childhood self begins to crack as his adult self is being born. He looks sad because it is a melancholy but necessary step to say goodbye to the innocence of childhood. This MV is also heavily connected to the supernatural mystery story that runs through their art called the Bangtan Universe, or BU. The BU is revealed in clues over years of time in multimedia such as MVs, song lyrics, album notes, short films, webtoons, books, their mobile game BTS World, and more. Thr BU is an ongoing story, and there was just a KDrama released recently based on it.

There are so many layers of symbolism in this it would take a college course. The group as a whole and each member struggles with their own good and evil, example, Jk gets high. Jungkook flying on the swing has a couple of meanings. One is the childlike joy of a swing and it's contrast to adulthood. The more important one is about the story of Icarus. There are images of Icarus in the background. He flew to close to the sun with wings made of wax. The statue with black wings is the manifested form of Abraxas from the story Daemian. Jungkook is suspended. He is Icarus or even alternatively a fallen Angel. The other imagery in the mv supports both interpretations. You cannot understandvthis unless you understand there are multiple threads. At its simplest its boy meets temptation. Alot of the symbology is from the book Daemon , Biblical, classical, and the ideas of Jung.

When Jungkook is suspended, he is the fallen Icarus, floating in the sea where Icarus ended up. You can see feathers floating around him. There are mutiple references to Icarus in the MV. He flew too close to the sun because he dared to know, so he was seeking knowledge. Similarly, V plays a fallen angel. We see him fall from the balcony. He chose to embrace the duality instead of remain innocent and pure.

This is based on Herman Hesse's novel Demian. The book is mandatory reading in S.Korean schools. Also, I read tarot cards and I note a LOT of symbolism matching between this MV and the Rider Waite Smith tarot deck. Wether this is a coincidence or intentional, I've never found any evidence either way.

Good call! I’ve done lectures on all the tarot related imagery in this MV, but I still don’t know if it was intentional or not. It’s hard to believe that it wasn’t intentional, but the themes in both are so archetypal. Carl Jung’s ideas directly influenced Hesse and are prevalent in the modern use of tarot. There are at least a dozen images in the MV that can be related to the Waite-Smith tarot deck in particular. A few of the cards are the High Priestess, Hanged Man, Fool, Emperor, Devil, Judgment (Aeon from the Thoth deck), Ace of Cups, 2 and 8 of Swords and more.

It’s got a reggaeton beat and it’s Jungkook, not Jin in the air on a swing (not levitating). They’re singing “want more more more”. The Korean word sounds similar and was used intentionally due to the theme of temptation. The ‘devil’ that Jin kisses is meant to be Abraxus. The mv is based around the short novel Demian and the album is heavily themed around Jungian ideologies. You should give Demian a read. Also, the expo looked cool. ✌️💜

such an iconic song ❤ when you isolated the tracks i could really hear the dancehall and reggaeton influences. also I like the style of watching the video once and then doing the deep dive 😊 If you're also interested in other groups, I recommend ateez ~ (some of their songs actually have this pop-hiphop-edm vibe of blood sweat and tears too haha) one of my favorite songs of theirs is "halazia" and their recent releases "crazy form" and "bouncy" are really fun. "the real (heung version)" might be interesting for you too because it uses different korean traditional instruments!

The BTS videos have a sequence and they tell you an alternative story to what the group is. We symbolize in the videos and in the presentations they have done live, Jin leads the story, this has caused many young people to start reading about Demian literature by Hermann Hesse, Those who walk away from Omelas by Ursula K. Le Guin. . The BTS albums from the first to map of the soul have a sequence based on the psychology theories of Carl Jung. Everything is super interesting overall and more than that many of them (BTS) have participated in most of the lyrics, which talk about self-help topics, many teenagers and adults have found meaning in their lives by listening to what the lyrics of their albums

Вкратце "Демиан"- это история взросления главного героя, будучи ребенком он рассуждает о том, что существует два мира: светлый и темный, темный мир манит его. Как мне кажется, в этом и был основной лейтмотив альбома: парни перестали быть невинными детьми, пришла пора взрослеть, совершать ошибки, преодолевать искушения или поддаваться им. Поэтому они ведут себя подчеркнуто вызывающе, будто пытаются соблазнить. Думаю, по клипу заметно, что участники делятся на плохих и хороших. Джин играет роль наблюдателя, как и Эмиль Синклер главный герой "Демиана", ну а остальные раскрывают себя по мере просмотра. Пробегусь по некоторым отсылкам в клипе: В начале Джин смотрит на картину - это "Падение мятежных ангелов" Брейгеля. Она изображает падение в ад ангелов, восставших против Бога, они превращаются в уродливых монстров, а добрые ангелы дают им бой. По сути это отображение центральной идеи борьба между добром и злом, выбор своей стороны в этом сражении. В первой же танцевальной формации, где Чимин поднимает голову, по бокам от ребят в дверных проходах (эти же проходы есть и на кадре с картиной, только без скульптур) видны две скульптуры - слева демон, справа ангел, что предполагает, что выбирая свой путь ты либо свернешь налево и поддашься желанию согрешить, либо пойдешь направо, устояв против него. Качели, на которых качается Чонгук, как бы символизируют его желание вернуться назад в беззаботное детство, где все было просто и понятно. Но однажды познав темный мир, ты уже никогда не сможешь вернуться назад, светлый. Еще один интересный момент- за спиной у Чонгука картина, на которой изображен Икар. Я думаю, все знакомы с греческой мифологией и в курсе, что Икару подарили крылья, но он не справился с искушением и подлетел слишком близко к солнцу, отчего воск в его крыльях растаял, и он упал. История перекликается с идеями песни, ну и конечно же с названием самого альбома - WINGS. Намджун пьет абсент-напиток, имеющий репутацию галлюциногена, и запрещенный в некоторых странах. Здесь, я думаю, он символизирует то, что Намджун поддается искушению и отрицает реальный мир в пользу иллюзии. Когда участники сидят за столом перед каждым из них стоит кубок, а в тарелке лежит яблоко-и то и другое является символом соблазна (к примеру, в Библии Ева срывает яблоко с Древа Познания, они с Адамом пробуют его, и за это их изгоняют из Рая). Далее по сюжету Чимин появляется в одной комнате с Юнги, в руках он держит все то же яблоко, а у Юнги есть повязка, которой он закрывает глаза Чимина-намек на то, что Чимин пока еще не сдался, он не попробовал яблоко, а Юнги пытается его к этому подтолкнуть, закрыв его глаза на тот факт, что он совершает зло, что грешить Плохо. Когда Ви прыгает с балкона-за ним видна картина, и это снова отсылка к Икару. Автор картины тоже Брейгель, она называется "Падение Икара". Тут прослеживается тесная связь между Ви и Икаром- они оба поддались искушению. Но перед тем, как спрыгнуть вниз, Ви улыбается - это дает нам понять, что он олицетворяет собой зло, падшего ангела, которого уже не волнует глубина его падения, он принял его. В сцене с шариком Намджун цитирует строки из "Демиана". По сюжету клипа понятно, что со временем каждый участник поддается искушению, переходит, так сказать на темную сторону, но начинает осознавать, что Что-то пошло не так, хочет вернуться назад... примерно об этом в цитате и говорится. Самая символичная сцена- Джин целует статую с крыльями. Это, конечно же, Ви. Ангел, который поддался соблазну и утратил свои крылья. Целуя его, Джин тоже выбирает свой путь- путь зла, темный мир. После Джин подходит к стене, на которой выгравирована цитата Ницше "Кто не носит в себе хаос, тот не родит танцующей звезды". Отсылка к идеям Ницше о сверхчеловеке- существе, которое своим могуществом многократно превосходит обычного человека, отрицает страх и сожаления, и бескомпромиссно следует выбранному пути, являясь творцом собственной судьбы. Сверхчеловек описывается в его книге "Так говорил Заратустра" и идеи оттуда плотно перекликаются с "Демианом". Когда отражение Джина в зеркале трескается - это символизирует его жертву. Поцелуем с дьяволом обычно скрепляют контракт, возможно, он о чем-то попросил Ви, получил желаемое, а взамен пожертвовал собой, своей невинностью, чистой душой. Все это, конечно, просто теории и догадки, в клипе есть еще много чего, и интерпретировать это можно по разному. За это и люблю БТС- бесконечный простор для фантазий и размышлений!

What he’s saying is that BTS always does little things to pay homage to MJ whether in dance, song, or costume. They were greatly influenced by him just like MJ was by Gene Kelly.
