My dad was a corrections officer for 23 years and he told me that the inmates could take over the prison at anytime. Holding the prison is a different story all together!

yeah but they separate themselves and make "OPPS" or "Enemies" so they'll never get together and tear that fence down and storm out of the doors LOL Too much ego, not enough bigger perspective.

Great interview. He seems like a good guy . I went to juvenile corrections in idaho when i was 15 and the guards taught us how to be men and it made me want to be a good man. Im still in contact with some and im thankful we have men like this to be a role model for my generation.

sounds like they have a good juvenile offender program. In Los Angeles California it was a shit show. The system just made the kids worse. Unless you got extremely lucky and went to a place like you described.

Someone in my family used to work for the county jail and the stories he had already told me jail ain’t for ANYONE to go to. We have no other choice but to raise our children to have goals and vision for higher in life. Too many kids aren’t being raised at all and are following the streets, which I either leads to jail or to the coffin. And NO ONE in social media, news media, anywhere cares. No one’s calling out lack of parenting, no one’s calling out lack of morals and having self-control. It’s easy to incite riots and looting over small things, but no one wants to call people out on the real things. Those things require each of us to look ourselves in the mirror and be real.
@jeffmiller3499

But they can call people out for being anti semitic or anti vax or racist or whatever non stop, almost always being false. Latest example is woody harrelson. Instantly like 77 articles calling him an anti vaxxer blah blah blah. It's pathetic and embarrassing.

So start with yourself! You called it out here, so call it out in real life convo too. Ghandi said "we must be the change we want to see in the world". And this was way back in the 1930's & 40's. It applies today too!

When you work in a prison you are doing time with the inmates. I have never met a CDCR officer that wasn't wound tighter than new bolts on a bridge. Also, there is a HUGE rate of divorce for these people. Hardest job out there....by far.

New bolts on a bridge lol that's fkn TIGHT. Idk I knew COs that had cake jobs, barely did anything just getting a check. Especially all the level 1. But even the higher levels, it sucks more, but they're also locked down almost all the time so. Definitely depends what prison & what pod or whatever but. I don't think you can say the hardest. it's not making the easy list tho that's for sure.

I've been a CO at a maximum security juvenile prison for 3 years 13 years total, and based on what I've experienced so far, I won't allow anyone to get behind me. Nor will I sit anywhere near the middle of any restaurant. I'm always sitting at the back of the restaurant, closest to the door. I also keep my protection with me at all times. It's weird because even people I've never met a clearly aware that I have protection on me.
