It is extremely skillful that Judy is able to completely keep her emotional composure and not give the evil, scheming defendant one millimeter of ground. The defendant is (unfortunately, because I won't want to pay her a single compliment, even incidentally) a master of lies and manipulation, including emotional manipulation. She is used to flustering her listeners and putting them off balance by emotionally enraging them. It's actually very skillful, but very psychopathic and very evil. Judy did not slip up once nor give her a millimeter of ground. Absolutely exceptional.

Unfortunately for me I am an expert in this kind of person. My mother is like this. The defendant is not skillful because she is doing this in the wrong venue. You can't talk around a court preceding. You can get out of being late for class like this but only because no one has time for you.

I agree it is not the correct place to behave this way - really, what is the correct place, except maybe to get out of interrogation from a malevolent wishing to do you harm - but regardless it takes a level of mental coherence to behave this way. The defendant is on auto-pilot, true enough, because it's built so deeply into her personality, but everyone is on their own sort of auto-pilot. Again, speaking from the perspective of analysis of raw mental faculties, this is something not anyone could accomplish. If your mother is like that, I feel truly sorry for your plight, but recognize her strength in being able to overcome whatever was so traumatic to her in her formative years... it is a form of forgiveness for someone who gave you life. But, and I'm sure you're well aware without my saying, divest yourself from someone like that, for I cannot see them bringing anything but misery. If she is a parent you also have feelings of love for, I'm well aware how difficult this may be.
