How is the economy off track? Tax cuts that dont cover the revenue deficit doesn't make America stronger. It makes the rich richer.

That is always Republican's #1 priority. Tax cuts for the rich without cutting spending. Republicans administrations have actually contubuted slightly more to the national debt than Democrats post WW2, its close but its like 55-45% and Trump added more than Biden by lowering corporate taxes from 35-21% in years of record profits. Tax cuts without spending cuts are just as inflationary as spending increases without tax increases. The only way the government can spend $1 is by taxing its citizens and if not collected directly those taxes are still collected in the form of inflation/weakening of the purchasing power of the USD. There is a direct correlation between the national debt and the weakening purchasing power of our currency.

We are trillions in debt because of the entitlement programs which are 2/3 of the budget. They need to be greatly reformed or you can be the one to tell seniors and the disabled and the ultra poor that your short term thinking is responsible for their 30% benefit cut when the respective programs reach insolvency early next decade
@Joe-ij6of

@@Grantthecatholic The entitlement programs and their respective funds aren't in debt... THEY OWN THE DEBT. Not all of it, of course, but a good chunk of it. Yes, it's true that their cummulative spending will surpass their cummulative receipts within around a decade. But to say they're in debt is completely false.

The Ryan tax cuts. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated in 2018 that the 2017 law would cost $1.9 trillion over ten years. Together with the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts enacted under President Bush (most of which were made permanent in 2012), the law has severely eroded our country’s revenue base. Revenue as a share of GDP has fallen from about 19.5 percent in the years immediately preceding the Bush tax cuts to just 16.3 percent in the years immediately following the Trump tax cuts. Trump administration officials claimed their centerpiece corporate tax rate cut would “very conservatively” lead to a $4,000 boost in household income. Research shows that workers who earned less than $114,000 on average in 2016 saw “no change in earnings” from the corporate tax rate cut, while top executive salaries increased sharply. And we should do this again?
