I just read the entirety of the Hamas 2017 Charter, which is a revision of its original charter. In no place does it call for persecution much less elimination of Jews based on their religion or ethnic identity -- in fact it speaks against this clearly. What it does call for is the end of the Jewish State as a Zionist and colonialist entity -- that's a different thing and contradicts the widely spread notion (stated on this program as well) that Hamas by charter calls for genocide against the Jews.

What Al Jazeera does well is showcasing other viewpoints that may not be as common on typical cable news shows. Watching both you get a better idea how the various sides are framing the conflict and a better sense of what are the real problems and what are not. For example, basically all news outlets have reported how Oct 7th went down and are in agreement with it being a war crime. Watching multiple networks demonstrates that some people think Israel is committing war crimes for various reasons. If you only watched one show, you'd be either certain that Israel was NOT committing war crimes or you'd be certain they were and the evidence was ironclad. Watching multiples shows the evidence exists but isn't always ironclad for every instance making a more complex story of war crimes than any one channel mentions.

Why is the question of the Israeli’s Apache Helicopters using Hellfire Missiles and indiscriminately targeting civilians and anything that moved on 10/7 not being acknowledged and addressed? The Israeli military killed many of the 400 civilians on 10/7 and the Israeli’s finally admitted that and explained that they could not identify the victims because they were too badly charred! The remaining 800 killed on 10/7 were military and police officers and of the 1,200 many were civilians killed by the hellfire missiles.

Your guest did not clearly explain the topic. He said war crimes can be prosecuted based on where they were committed (if in a location under the ICC's jurisdiction). He did not clarify whether the crimes must be committed by an ICC signatory. For example, he said @9:13 that the "ICC has jurisdiction in Gaza, West Bank, and East Jerusalem" for crimes committed there but he did not say whether Israel's acts there can be prosecuted even though Israel is not a signatory to the ICC. *Can someone be prosecuted for war crimes committed in a location under ICC jurisdiction when that someone is not a signatory to ICC's role?* The same confusion arises for Hamas since they signed the ICC but their alleged crimes were in a location (south Israel) which is not under ICC jurisdiction (and also there were many combatants/groups other than Hamas who entered Israel on 10/7).
