Regular Gas is $2.59 here in Kenosha Wisconsin. The prices on cars right now is ridiculous for both selling and buying. Glad you're enjoying your new car!

I've recently bought LTC. 2009. Black. No rust on frame or body. 85K miles. 6000$. The only things not working is lumbar support on driver's seat and HVAC not blowing from front vents. I think I'll invest 1-1,5k to repair and tune up the car and I am good to go.

I find it easier to use the Fusion trunk. In the Panther car you have to reach down, in the Fusion it's straight into the trunk. It's much easier on the back.

I have two lincoln town cars and really like them , I would not have a new ev car at all. When the new cars give problems they cast twice as much to repair.

frustrating, isn't it!?!? When we traded in my wife's minivan it was same sort of thing... "it needs this, that, the other thing, best we can do is $x because we're gonna have to wholesale it." Then they put on their website for sale for probably $5k more than they paid us.

Last November I bought an "05 LTC Signature with 126 k for $8000 including sales tax out the door from a dealership. Satisfied with the top dollar price. I'm not a mechanic and if plying the market could mistakenly get a lemon. At least I have peace of mind that the dealership has their name and reputation on the car, they checked it and sold it as their inventory instead of consigning off to the auction anonymously. My local mechanic inspected it and advised that everything is in order, they changed some components, just drive 5 or 6 k miles and return for service.

Big dealerships don't usually sell cars that are over 10 years on their lots, but they will with towncars.

In this instance, the salesman told me the car came back from a customer who originally purchased it there and returned for regular service for 10 years and they decided to fix up a few things like installing new headlights and to offer it for sale "as is" on their lot. So I took a chance and so far its a good deal.

They also won’t sell it for that price. I don’t think they fixed anything or know about all of the issues. Will bite them in the butt when someone buys it and expects everything functional.

Even if they are selling it “as is,” they still have to fix any safety items, tires brakes etc. I’m sure their service department found some repairs to bill the sales department, probably at least a few hundred to maybe more than a thousand dollars. Dealers attract a different kind of buyer than you will ever attract with private party ads. It’s unfortunate, because you could have saved the next owner a couple of thousand dollars - but that’s just the way it is.

I still drive my 1988 Town car Cartier Daily, has 260,000 kms on it, everything work's, never been towed in 8 year's, it has no payment so I don't care if she burns extra fuel than a new one, the lack of payments and cheap insurance, make it still a superior car, it's built like a tank, The oil gets changed every 4,000 kms, spark plugs every 30,000 kms tranny fluid every 40,000 kms, all front ball joints at 250,000, still drives like new, looks like new, There's still Nothing quite like a Lincoln!

They'll never get that much for it. They are starting high to negotiate way down to give the customer the appearance they are special and getting a "great deal." it'll sit on the lot and rot some more over the winter. Then it'll get wholesaled out to Mexico.

The only time to buy a used vehicle from a dealer is from someone like Anthony who deals strictly in cream puffs and always has full disclosure of all defects. If he is selling a vehicle that is not up to his usual standards he makes it clear and prices it accordingly. I am not at all surprised at the asking price for your town car from that dealer. That's how dealers make their income. They are looking for a sucker, and there are lots of people out there who would rather buy from a dealer than an individual because it's an easier transaction with less work required on their part and they are afraid of fraud from individuals. In this case I would say the dealership doesn't care what's wrong with your town car and are just looking to make an easy flip profit. Edit: They will likely sell it for less than the asking price, but still very high. The buyer will then think they got a real deal. Also, oil changes done at places like Jiffy lube and any work done at independent mechanics does not appear on the carfax report. Everything done at a dealership will appear on that report.

@@VitaliyKofman Interesting because all the Carfax reports I have looked at only had dealer service info. Perhaps they were only serviced at a dealership. Someone told me that most small shops do not get reported.
