I would say I wanted Micah until the Rams game during that 1st year when Penei went face to face with Aaron Donald. That was when I knew we got the right guy.

What a great first draft for Holmes.. Sewell, Amon Ra St Brown, Derrick Barnes, Alim McNeal.. Also Iffy and Levi have shown to be good players too when healthy
@mangrove3 сағат бұрын
A no-brainer, this. Penei showed skill, commitment, and leadership from the get-go.

Brad Holmes drafted for character, not just talent. I'm glad he's the GM of the Detroit Lions.

Born, raised near downtown Detroit, currently in the metro area. I have NEVER heard anyone say we wanted Micah.

All the 97.1 guys wanted him. He would have been a disaster here.

A few guys at the Pride of Detroit site wanted Parsons, but nowhere near 91%. Laughable!😂😂😂 I’d say less than 10%.

Sewell is a generational talent. A cornerstone. Our fans are dumb. Parsons is what the old Lions would have done. When they took Sewell i knew they were serious.

There isn't a single player who has had a bigger part in the turn around than Penei. 58 and his drive and passion are what brought everyone else's level up. Couldn't have dreamt up a better player to start your turn around with

Micah is an excellent football player. But Penei is FREAKING MONSTER

Peni Was always regarded as a generational tackle since he was a Freshman. I always wanted him

I didn't know much of Penei either. Im sold he is the best player in the game right now. He should be MVP.

58 and his drive is what's turned this all around. Parsons wouldn't have had the same impact culturally. Penei is the face of the brand new lions

Derrick Barnes getting injured was really unfortunate he's been great

Michigan people love our big boys. Penei Sewell all day. Penei was a generation talent at the offensive line. Plus, pretty much the number 1 rank player at that time. Going by most college rank.

19 as a junior coming out! He's still a baby 4 years in. Can't wait to see him once he gets his old man strength. 58 is the face of the brand new lions forever. He should retire a lion and walk into Canton

Even if the Lions had the #1 pick they should still have taken Sewell

Amon Ra has a little Hines Ward in him

Steelers fan here, and, you sir, nailed it. He's going to be better than Ward. He even looks a little like him.
@joshlewis5752 сағат бұрын
He's always reminded me of a mix of lions legend Golden Tate and Hines. Golden when he has the ball in his hands and Hines when he's blocking

That 2021 draft is going to go down as not only the best draft in Lions history, but the second best draft in NFL history behind only the Steeler draft that netted them five (5!) HoF players. The Lions look to have two HoF players (Penei and ARSB), a perennial Pro Bowler in Alim, and two starting quality players in Levi O. and D. Barnes. Melifonwu is a bit of a wild card, who if healthy is a Pro Bowl talent. But the absolute key to that draft and this entire turnaround was and is Penei Sewell.

We needed an identity and this O-line has been that identity. If any other position group needed to know what grit and toughness and Detroit is about, look no further.

I never wanted Micah at all. I didn’t even really know his name. I didn’t know Penei either.
@RichardStanczak38 минут бұрын
You are dead wrong Braylon. Most Lions fans were overjoyed when we drafted Penei. In my mind Parsons was not in the conversation. The Lions (Brad and Dan) wanted a strong O Line to build on. Penei was a generational talent and the kind of gritty guy who exemplified everything they wanted to build at Detroit. What is this 91% wanted Micah garbage?

Levi has played a few games and then gets hurt again. I wanted Kwity Paye in the 1st
@RichardStanczak18 минут бұрын
Paye has already missed ten games in just over three and a half years. He is not the healthiest guy either. Now that Levi is past his back issues, he will be a solid starter for us. And a guy that can play DT and DE.
