Sure did. And with each passing day I’m becoming increasingly grateful for that 5 year stretch between 2007-2011. Because as we watch this dumpster fire of an organization, it sets in more and more that we have no shot of having a homegrown elite team like that anytime in the foreseeable future.

@@alexandriaocasio-smollett5078 Fr it is sad to see, I think we got cursed to have a shit pitching staff for the rest of time. Since we were blessed with one of the greatest rotations of all time during that stretch.

I went to a Dodgers Phillies game near the end of Utley’s career. He was just a bat off the bench for them at that point, and though I don’t remember the score, I don’t think it was particularly close. So, for pretty much the entire eighth and ninth innings, we were all just chanting “We want Utley!” At that point, none of us still care about the game, we just wanted to see him one more time.

Fantastic video. Couple things I wanted to add. Philly fans have our reputation because passion goes both ways. Those are heartwarming, great moments. Especially Mitch Williams because that one was unpredictable. For the opposite of heartwarming you can go to the returns of J.D Drew and Scott Rolen. That's what the media portrays Philadelphia fans as. Oh and one more thing what a FREAKIN catch by Louis Gonzalez on that fly ball. My goodness that's some good defense!

I watched Hamels for his entire career in Philly. Don't even try to say what I do and don't know. Just because you like the Phils doesn't mean you know what real talent is. MLB celebrates mediocrity now by giving huge contracts to so-so players. I watched pitchers like Bunning, Wise, Roberts and Carlton. Hamels doesn't even come close. He finished his career about 20 games over .500. Like I said, he was just another mediocre pitcher on a good team. YOU'RE the one who's high and doesn't know how to judge pitching talent.

Why not? They were both at the ends of their careers and Phillies were no longer a contending team. So they did them both a favor by sending them somewhere where they could possibly win another championship -- The L.A. Dodgers -- and where they could be close to their family homes (Chase is from L.A.; Rollins is from Oakland, CA). It would've been an insult had they traded them to a team that wasn't in contention and with no regard to their where their family was from. I mean, if they had traded them to the Detroit Tigers or something, I guess I would've been kinda miffed at the Phillies front office for doing that to them for no reason.

Philly fans are one of the smartest fanbases in all of sports. They boo players that don't hustle. They give standing ovations to those that do. Do the right thing, be humble, show up once in awhile with a clutch hit or a good trip to the mound. Earn that paycheck. Do that for a few seasons, not even your whole career. And they'll make sure you never have to pay for a beer in any tavern or meal in any restaurant. Philadelphia may not be a hot spot for celebrities like LA or Florida. But ask John Kruk. He was last relevant 30 years ago. He wants for nothing in Philadelphia.
