People like Thabo Mbeki and White Capital are mourning Tito Mboweni for things that mattered to them. Before he became Governor of the Reserve Bank during Mbeki's presidency, Mboweni had a stint with Goldman Sachs in New York. After resigning as Finance minister in 2022, he rejoined Goldman Sachs and 5 months later Goldman was appointed as a primary dealer of South African government bonds. Meanwhile, the natives are mourning him because they are going to miss his cooking, and shoes.
