Alex Smith is such a great interview! How is he not doing a studio analyst or color commentary gig?! Wish he got to stay with the 49ers.

Alex Smith's first 5 or so years was wasted in SF, and then he was pushed out by Kaepernick, then he did really good for KC for a few years, then was pushed out for Mahomes, then went to Washington, started off great, then almost loses his leg in a game. All that stuff, and I've never once heard him complain or blame anyone or feel sorry for himself. He was a true professional through his entire career.

That Alex Smith had what it took to not just recover from that horrific injury, but to actually be able suit up again in the NFL is pretty unbelievable.

As a Chiefs fan, don't really miss Alex as we have got Mahomes, but Alex is just so likeable and makes you want to root for him no matter what he does. Such a great guy and was a corner stone for my Chiefs to become great again. He and Andy really changed things around here.

Nah bro if he could come in to kc and work with mahomes help improve in areas we had in pat's the first two years it would put us back in the superbowl

You crazy lol. Smith was the best qb we had since trent green. He was the beginning of the culture shift in kc after that disastrously 2-14 season lmao

lowkey even Mahomes couldn't get much further than Smith did until they got rid of Bob Sutton, not a lot of people seem to acknowledge this

As a Washington fan and a football fan, watching him play in San Fran, I was a Big fan. Loved to watch him play, I thought he was wronged in San Fran. His Chiefs span...then Washington, I was happy...then ....I'm a fan, class act

The dude drove the Giants at the World Series parade, said he loved the city, then got thrown out by Harbaugh while leading the league in nearly every statistical passing category... only to find more success at KC than the 49ers did without him. Then after all these years he hangs it up and moves back to SF to raise his family. Real 9er fans from the pre-Harbaugh days know the bill.

What a cool, down-to-earth dude! Highly suggest watching the documentary about his leg injury. At points in the aftermath he dealt with life threatening situations. You never see him lay blame or complain. He just accepted it, put his head down and put the work in to recover. If you’ve seen the extent of the injury that is miraculous.

We in KC will be forever thankful for Alex and the winning mentality he and Andy brought to our team. 2012 we were 2-14....worst year ever...2013 we were in the playoffs...that speaks for itself. Sure, we never got over the playoff hump, but most teams don't...I think any fan would take yearly playoff appearances and the occasional win over basement dwelling seasons year in and year out...and he brought that to KC. And can't say enough about the way he handled a young RC being brought in to replace him...class act is there ever was....thanks Alex!!!
