I have to admit, I stepped away from listening to Green Light. Just took a break. I listened to other football podcasts, even baseball podcasts, but never felt the same connection as I had with Green Light. So, coming back, listening to Howie Long on Green Light gave me my mojo back. Chris and his team have got this just right. No disrespect to other pods but Green Light is my go to pod to listen to when I'm driving to work or on longer drives. Thanks guys. Shout out to all the Green Light crew.

Even though I’m a life long Green Bay fan, Howie has always been one of my favorite players! Just an absolute beast! Howie also has some of the greatest stories! I read in a book by the Raiders internist, that when Howie woke up from knee surgery performed by the teams ortho doc, he yelled “My God, Rosenberg operated on me with a broken beer bottle”! Still makes me laugh out loud when I think of it! Great book for any Raiders fan! “Don’t worry it’s just a bruise” by Dr. Huizenga (I think).

Chiefs aren't as deep at LB without Willie Gay, but Willie was basically demoted to a rotational role, last year. L'Jarius Sneed is a great player, but they have a great DB corps, and they're all assassins. It won't be exactly the same without him When I look at the team build, they have as good a chance to win the next Super Bowl as they've had in any of the last 5 or 6 years. I don't think they'll win it the same way as they won the last two. I think their long-ball percentages will go up. I think that will help their running game. Even without a big bump in downfield completion percentage, I think they may also run the ball better, because whoever wins the job at LT (Probably Wanya Morris) is going to be more athletic than anybody they've had since Eric Fisher, and Fisher didn't have a top-5 interior line next to him. They might add smash-mouth to their arsenal, this year. The Chiefs stole a march on the rest of the league with the Tyreek Hill trade. Maybe two or three marches. I think they've been very innovative with their team builds. Veach's crew seems to be among the best at identifying deeper positions in the draft and --------- I never liked John Elway, but as a Chiefs fan, I think he was the best QB they faced, year in and year out, for well over a decade. I can't imagine Howie Long socializing with John Elway during their mutual playing days, and neither can Howie. But nowadays, with social media, it's a lot different. --------- Nowadays, I think there are more players who treat the NFL as a year-round job, like Howie did. He came to camp in shape. I wonder how this will evolve. The NFLPA is pushing to change OTAs, maybe even do away with them, entirely. I think the sport, itself, really benefits from the overall fitness of the players, now, compared to the '80s or before. I wonder if that would suffer if they dialed-back some or all of the OTA's.

Great show! Loved the last segment: I'm not as tall or big as you guys, but it does make it a bitch to buy clothes that fit. BTW, Chris. Don't knock that top shelf duty. After 44 years I think it's the only reason my wife keeps me around. I loved it when the Raiders came to town. There was a little men's store in Redondo Beach that catered to athletes w/ lots of Italian clothes. Miss that place. G/Go in Riviera Village. Spent way too much money there in the 80's.

I don't see how this seperate cap is going to work. If you say the cap is 60 mil then every QB is going to want 60 mil. With the increase in games it is going to be hard to field a full team all year. They need to go from 53 players to 64 - 69 players. That will give teams the ability to rest or rehab 11 - 16 players and still have a team on the field. The other thing that needs to be added is a developmental squad. 15 - 20 players on the squad. Can be put on the squad without going through waivers. They have to go on the squad after being drafted. When they transition to the practice squad, then they follow the existing rules. But while they are on the DS they are protected. They can not be poached by other teams. They would have a 2 year limit on the DS. Too many times teams with high draft picks don't have time to get a player developed before they are poached by other teams. Thanks for the video. I love when you have your Dad on the show. Howie was one of my favorite players and loved it when he transitioned to the Sunday shows.
@goldenageofdinosaurs7192
@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 7 ай бұрын
I agree. They need to expand the 53 by at least 5 players. 10 would be much better & the practice squad should probably expand to 18-20 players.

54:00........Tired of this Greenlaw argument. Chiefs lost their 2nd best pass rusher in the AFC Championship; Charles O. Chiefs were down defenders to. 9ers best LB Fred Warner was guarding Kelce that whole 2nd half. U think Greenlaw would have done better? I doubt it. One player besides elite QBs dont change an outcome of a game. #ChiefsKingdom

1. Brady played in an era when defensive players were actually allowed to tackle the QB. In today's game, if the defender cannot gently tackle the QB WHILE HE IS RUNNING WITH THE FOOTBALL, they must abandon pursuit, and allow him to pickup the first down, touchdown, etc. The new kickoff rules should have put touchbacks back to the 15 yard line to throw defenses a bone. It really is hard for me to watch because many of the plays we see a QB make in today's NFL are only because the defenders are forced to allow him to. He really isn't capable of making the play. The hit Brian Cox put on Drew Bledsoe would result in a six game to entire season suspension in today's NFL. Even crazier was in AFC Championship that year when Brady got hurt, and Bledsoe came in to finish the game. Bledsoe is scrambling, he makes it clear to the defender that he is no longer trying to gain yardage and turns to run straight out of bounds, and the defender still drills him. In today's NFL, the QB will pretend to give himself up, so the defender relents on his pursuit of QB, the QB then turns up field to gain 5-25 more yards, pounds his chest and screams like he's hard. It drives me crazy. It really is an insult to guys like Cam Newton, whom refs openly told they would not protect him. Cam Newton was a beast. 2. Jim Harbaugh will make Mahomes' job MUCH harder so long as he is coaching in the AFC West. 3. Watching the 2001-2004 Patriots' defenses. They are historically great, and do not get nearly as much recognition as they deserve.
