Former Proud Boys leader sentenced to 22 years in prison for involvement in Capitol riot

Enrique Tarrio, one-time leader of the far-right Proud Boys group, will spend 22 years behind bars for being a central figure in the attack on the U.S. Capitol, though he was not physically present. NBC News’ Ken Dilanian has more details on Tarrio’s involvement on January 6th.

having been born in the 80s and then coming of age in 90s, I really am flabbergasted by the length of time people got/get for drug offenses vs trying to overthrow the gov't or violence. realizing that this guy supposedly got his just desserts (and that is 22 years) shows how ridiculously racist the drug sentences were/are when you realize how disproportionately they are enforced among different demographic groups.

But today a 3-time murderer in Oakland gets only 9 years, and likely out in 5 do to pre-trial detention counting double, and California only keeps you in for 1/2 to 2/3 of a typical sentence. The justice system is jacked up in California right now.
