First of all Saban was not handed the keys to a Lamborghini and told to go take it for a spin and ended up running into a wall called Louisiana Monroe. Saban had to build the damn thing from the ground up before he could go take it for a ride. DeBoer was handed the keys to the Lamborghini and had full access to Sabans office down the hall for friendly advice and still managed to take us on a couple historical beat down and show us things we ain't seen since the freaking 80s. I'll take the TN loss and I'll even take a loss to UGA if they had completed an enormous comeback which they almost did but losing to the likes of Vandy and a 5 loss depleted OU with nobody to throw to is just flat out unacceptable. There's no excuse for it whatsoever.

That is some serious revisionist history. Saban inherited a solid SEC roster with several future NFL players on it. When a team is not prepared to play ... its 110% on the coaches. Bama is stacked with 4 and 5 star players. It is up to the coaches job to prepare them for collegiate play. When players do not know what to do on a specific play ... its on the coaches. The buck stops with Kalen DeBoer. When they do not learn from their mistakes and keep calling the same plays that have not worked all game ... its on the coaches. When zero adjustments are made during the game nor at Halftime ... its on the coaches. Did I mention that the bucks stops at Kalen DeBoer? Now as far as Nick Saban's first year at Bama, we are talking apples and oranges here. Saban walked into an absolute train wreck. Bama had been really bad for years under the clowns that came before him. He had zero 5 stars on the team, a couple of 4 stars and the rest were 3 stars and below. Saban had to build the team from the ground up to create a winner. DeBoer did not walk into a train wreck. He was handed the keys to a Dynasty that was built on winning. Going undefeated or only suffering 1 loss during the regular season was the norm. The lineup is stacked with 4 and 5 star recruits also a gift from Saban. DeBoer walked into a winning Dynasty that he promptly dismantled in 7 games flat. There is no comparison between what Saban started with and what DeBoer started with so stop using that nonsense. Saban going 6-6 in his first year was an improvement over what was before him. DeBoer going 9-4 or 10-3 is not so let's dispense with the bullshit here.

Definitely plenty of poor execution by players...but you are completely overlooking the fact that there were no adjustments made on either side of the ball, to help improve the execution and performance, that's a coaching responsibility. Essentially 2 pick-6's and you leave the QB in the game? That's a coaching decision, one which Saban did make when he was there. Remember benching Jalen Hurts for Tua in the (first) Natty against Georgia? If the HC isn't responsible for the product on the field, who is? Coaching and practice have a direct impact on execution. Continued poor execution is indicative of poor coaching, and/or wrong personnel in the line-up. That's how I see it...Coach DeBoer's best option to stop the criticism is to improve the product on the field.

An individual play is 100% players. The play calling, adjusting to what they are doing, keeping everyone engaged, that is the coaches. Telling fans that spend thousands a yr over the last 25 yrs that we are dumb and don’t blame the coach? Sadly I disagree. When a team isn’t prepared, adjustments are failing, same plays called over and over, 5 star running backs are getting 3-4 carries a game after showing they are more capable in that game, only 1-2 receivers are used, we hear the same thing after every bad game and there is no emotion. in the field, Defense plays out of position, tackles are missed, then yes this is coaching. not to mention a season of penalties that broke most everyone’s record and we lose to VANDY? I am sorry you don’t like it but you know, at some point the Head coach is to blame. I have been around sports for decades. is all of it his fault. maybe not but he is the head man. OC has no experience and it showed all season , he isn’t very good and has no imagination, Defense just is t gettting it done. Last, this may be the only season there is this much talent on this roster, if you can’t at least show improvement then what can this show for the future. i want the coach to come out and be honest. I don’t want to hear , well we are ready to work now, we now understand, we just have to play harder. No i don’t want our coach fired but i do want some changes as most everyone does. the OC is not the man, and of course this is an opinion same as yours.

I agree with a lot of what he is saying. Coaches are not on the field making the plays, the players are responsible for doing (or not doing) that. Paying the kids a lot of money while in college has really changed the very nature of sports and I don't think for the better. Plus, like another commenter posted, this core team wasn't very good last year either, we won 4 games by a combined total of 15 points, so our record could have very easily have included several more losses, we just got a little lucky a few plays in those games. No mystery why Saban decided, suddenly it seems, that he was done last year. What I really want to see is how this team plays when Milroe is gone, because by all accounts, he thinks he runs the show right now and that ain't a good thing. Players need to be seen not heard, just like Saban tried to do it.

It seems coaches can no longer discipline players as they once could. This isn't just an Alabama football problem. This seems true across all of college football. It has been noted that the quality of play is down across all of college football. Toughness and focus in this game are derived from the time the clock strikes zero in the last game of one season until the ball is kicked off in the first game of the next season. It seems coaches can no longer push players as they once did and players are no longer interested in pushing themselves to reach their fullest potential, either....sad to see this in a game we all dearly love. Consumers are going to walk away because the quality of the product is in decline.....sad, but true.

As an LSU fan I am truly sad for y’all and all of College Football. The Old Man(Saban) was/is such a savage. A man’s man. He changed my program for the better. I have nothing but respect for what BAMA accomplished. From 2009-2023 y’all were it. Y’all were that team. My LSU Tigers had no rivalry with y’all. Sometimes in the first week of November we’d win( sometimes 😂). I feel terrible watching what college football, and the SEC(greatest conference) allowed. I believe a lot was in place to get Saban out. They saw the writing. Coaches like Dumbo Fisher only accomplished getting fatter in the off season, signing a few thugs who were fast, and looking homeless. Seriously Saban always had that classic look. Clean shaved, shirt tucked in, and not a fat slob. It’s all relevant. DeBoer even sounds like a West Coast dude, I feel like I’m listening to a pot dealer. I can’t believe he’s allowed to wear those terrible hoodies. Saban was it! It will be terrible to have to become just another team. Trust me Burger King Kelly is on his way to absolutely destroying LSU. He’s done a lot of damage already. Why anyone would give an unproven person in any position anything guaranteed is beyond me. F dat if y’all lose to Auburn I’d be pissed. Trust me it’s embarrassing watching LSU play. We barely beat Vandy. They beat yall. Vandy y’all! I could care less about there little Cinderella season. LSU and Bama don’t lose to Vandy! Y’all cleared out our stadium this month. Absolutely beat the f*** outta us. Kelly should have been fired that damn night. DeBoer better get with it. That’s a talented team. Milroe is only as good as coaching allows. Are we supposed to get excited about a team like SMU winning a natty just to never do it again? It was so awesome watching Bama build dominance. It helped the SEC. Saban kept everyone honest. Georgia finally had to let Richt go. That 8-4 BS was done. LSU finally had to let Les go. We couldn’t beat yall. Literally I think he did it 2-3 times in an 11 year career (don’t quote me) . Georgia then got a chance to make it fun. Clemson was ok, but never really a threat, couldn’t really hang consistently. Had a good few years. Georgia is a shell of themselves. Look at how long Tennessee has been down due to coaching. I lived in Knoxville for almost 4 years..(I’m since back in Louisiana), y’all them Vol fans are delusional. Very tolerant of absolute horse crap. I’m pissed Saban retired. I’m man enough to respect him. As if anyone was a rival. Bama/Saban won the battle, and then the war. At times yall would lose a fight. Never seen Bama blown out with him there. His attention to detail was superb. This whole world is soft. I’m dead serious, NIL is a screw job from the NCAA. They ran out the Old Man because the could not beat him. We live in a soft ass country, soft ass people. Us southern boys are different. Y’all bleed Crimson, just like I’m purple n gold. We do it because it’s in us. SEC used to have tradition. The f*** you mean no East and West. Everyone knew When Bama and Tennessee played. Just like LSU plays state 2nd week of September, Florida in early October. The f*** do I care about Black Friday? LSU should plays Arkansas at 1:30 pm on Friday day after thanksgiving for da BOOT! They took the money, and shit on tradition.

Only real blemish was the loss to an also ranked team in Ole Piss at a time we were at our lowest most beatdown and injured of the season... u cannot without sounding dumb say that UGA isnt better than Miami Indiana Penn St and wouldnt trounce them head to head and should be ranked 4th.. instead 1 of the only teams that has proven they belong and handled business on the field and they are punished for actually earning and proving without question they are the best cause theyve whooped the best and the rest and it is that sort of culture that continues to improve and positively advance and further the game in a positive manner... if not then say goodbye to conference championship games with then risk of being eliminated from playoffs while other sec teams not playing in conference champ game yet make the playoffs... must stop babying these teams and programs who havent taken the steps to evolve and they never will... so cry me a damn river if u expect to remain relevant without spending the necessary money nor putting forth the time evaluating who is elite and who fits in as a DAWG not just locally or in state but Nationally and spend 2 or 3million on helicopter fuel maximizing ur ability to get in front of the kids early and often. UGA staff and coaches are recruiting literally yr round when legal tp do so with KSmart knowing recruiting is the single most important factor to maintaining and building championship caliber teams every season... in fact a common trait among the Champions in the playoff era... all had atleast 3 straight top 3 to 5 ranked classes... if ur team is always in the 30s 40s or 60s like Indiana ... u not EVER winning a Natty under the playoff system and u shouldnt cause u cannot realistically be the best team in cfb... its impossible as program stands... all fact so either evolve or take the other teams u can actually be relevant and play somewhat equally and start the cfb JCW league... just cant win... lol wow this entirely too long... my bad!

It's not like it was a mistake or a bad tackle. It was simply not wanting to make the tackle. I can think of no reason a player would do that. I've seen players chicken out of tackles when a ball carrier was coming at them but that wasn't the case here. He was going down the sideline.

Tyler made some valid points. However, his assessment/analysis of Bama's 2024 woes is an outlier. Yes, players need to get into the right headspace and take pride in their school, team,, and individual and collective performance. Whose job it is to make this happen? There are some player issues. The inconsistent level of play is indicative of underlying problems that are reflective of the new NIL era in college football, and the fact that DeBoer and company (at this time) are ill-equipped to sustain the high level of consistent excellence and discipline that was the foundation upon their arrival. Losing Saban should not translate to losing the foundational principles of a top-tier program such as Alabama. Coaching, offensive/defensive philosophy, proper player evaluation/valuation, effective practice analytics, and GAME PLANNING and in-game ADJUSTMENTS (not shouting)--are what catapulted Bama to the pinnacle of college football for almost 2 decades. This is no longer the case. How many pregame or postgame conferences have there been where DeBoer, Sheridan, or Wommack assumed responsibility for the outcome of a loss? Why is it always a matter of player-execution? Yes, there is obviously an issue with execution, however, how can plays be perfectly executed when opposing teams have figured out and exploited the weaknesses that the coaching staff sees as strengths? This is asinine. The biggest issues are the shifts in coaching/disciplinarian style, player development (psychological and physical), coaching/schematic philosophy, and the conscious awareness of what makes the SEC the toughest conference. Saban's loyalties lie with the coaches and players who bought into the highest standards of moral character, commitment to excellence, and personal and team accountability. Teams take on the mindset and personality of the HC and Staff. If the coaches won't take accountability or push the blame onto the players, what we are witnessing is the collapse of a Dynasty and the birth of a DIE-NASTY! Right before our eyes, the DeBoer era has begun--only time will show and prove if this time in Tuscaloosa will be known as the DeBoer Error!
