@@elrey8876hmmm well it really doesn't make sense for me but I can understand where they are coming from. People tend to have distrust to politicians because most of the time you only hear about them during the election. Trump won in the past because he is "not a politician". He had a chance to make a difference but in the end he was also all talk and no action to make people's lives better. It's just continues whining and pointing fingers. No accountability at all. In Japan we change prime minister quickly because when one is "not working" they still have the decency to step down. I think people in America has a big distrust with their politician so first they (maga) need to realize that the one lying to them the most is trump. Maga are very emotional people so they can't have common sense nor critical thinking operating for them. This is dangerous because once you lose that trust they are the ones who becomes aggressive. The latest proof for this is the recent 2 assassinations to trump. Both are his followers or at least people from the right. I do believe though that maga is shrinking. I am from Japan but this election is as important for me as much as the Americans. If America is peaceful - the world is peaceful. It's not perfect but at least it's going to be a more livable world than the alternative.
@chickenindanger8442 ай бұрын
@@starloszelson4541haha I can't answer that because I think I have a more international mind set. I think it's the same wherever you go. I read somewhere before that Japanese are even racist with other asian country. There is even racism against Japanese within Japanese. Allegedly there are certain areas in Japan who thinks that they are the real Japanese so if you are not from there then you don't belong. The difference I think is that Japanese culture are designed not to dwell with other people's business so it is more passive aggressive. But it is true we mind our own business.

Interesting conversation. Vote Harris-Walz. She IS building an incredible coalition.
@epincion2 ай бұрын
Yup but remember the President is elected by the Electoral College not the popular vote. This means that the President is chosen by the 6 swing states of which 4 have Republican governments who are working hard to suppress the Democratic vote in their state, plus the RNC and many well funded proTrump PAC’s are launching myriads of lawsuits in those 6 swing states and all are aimed squarely at banning measures to make it easier to vote and that will defranchise voters who likely support Harris. Right now a court case is ongoing in GA whereby a right wing member of the GA state election board is seeking a court ruling allowing her to refuse to sign and certify any election result she does not like. This is flatly against federal law which sets end dates when the result from every state must be reported (Jan 6). Now here is the interesting part - the Republican led GA State legislature is supporting this plaintiff and has actually passed a law saying that any election board member can refuse to sign off the result. This new Act they passed is in flagrant violation of the supremacy of federal law and what the legislature want is for the state judicial system to back them. So why not report a result? It’s an untested area of constitutional law but if an election has no result then there is a legal theory that a special convention be called with each state sending a representative and each state having one vote. They would pick the President and you can see that with 36 Republican states then Trump will be chosen.

History, you mean pre WWI-WW2 history. Forget Trump, we had no business in 2022 telling Zelensky to rip up his peace agreement with Putin. The USA under Obama overthrew the elected officials in Ukraine in 2014. Why do you think Putin took Crimea. You can hate Trump all you want. Obama,Biden,Clinton and Harris created this cluster in Ukraine. The Dems even blocked RFK from running against Biden.

The Democrats have embraced some weird hybrid of Fascist/Marxist ideology and are trying to intermingle it with Neoliberalism. It's doomed to fail. If you were really interested in history, you'd know that Mussolini and Gentile (founders of Fascism) were both Leninist Communists in the early 20th century. Hitler, too, was a Communist in 1919, enlisted in the Bavarian Red Army, and attended the funeral of Marxist Socialist Kurdt Eisner (there are historical photos and film footage of this). All 20th century dictators were of the left and this is the ideology you embrace. The problem isn't that people don't want to teach - it is that you can lead people like yourself to factual information, but due to severe brainwashing or cognitive dissonance, they will not want to hear it or research it for themselves.

@@dherdeeast5341 The free hand outs, money, and other things are a drop in the bucket compared to the corporate wellfare that goes on in The US. When big corporations pump the housing market up to insane costs, the US government bails them out to the tune of 635 billion dollars. You're also excluding Social Security and Medicare, which takes care of elderly citizens and people who can't afford health care. The money spent on the poor and middle class immediately goes back into the economy. When we give money to the rich it just sits there, they have no reason to spend it. They're not the same.

Scaramucci has it exactly right. For the first time in 35 years, a presidential candidate was willing to say “NAFTA screwed you.” Neither of the neoliberal parties had acknowledged that to the rust belt working class before that, and once those people heard Donald Trump say it, it didn’t matter what he said after that. Of course, Trump didn’t do anything to fix the problem.

I believe this is because most people no longer bother to read and research for themselves, so their own fact-checking, people have become quite lazy about this. So when they hear some higher up, some politician, anyone-- even some preachers-- they take them at their word and believe what they're told, without ever engaging their own brain. THAT is what is wrong with this country. It isn't the politicians breaking things and driving inflation-- the politicians we get are a reflection of, a symptom of THE PEOPLE. And people are lazy and can't be bothered to research anything. They simply choose based on what sounds good to their itching ears. It's lazy, and it is why we are in the mess we're currently in.

@@wisconsinfarmer4742 Spot on! It seems to me an agreement not well thought out or a scheme purposely designed to benefit the corporations at the expense of the country itself. How can you possibly apply the same provisions to two countries that are diametrically different in all aspects of the level of their economy? Companies would flee to the low-cost country the next day the agreement is signed. Was this not expected or there's something else that I'm missing here? I'm just a layman venting.

There’s so much nuance about the economy. You gave a very thorough rundown, and I wish that more news outlets would *dig in* to that necessary nuance so that we could make more informed decisions. (Prime example: not enough news networks have explained what tariffs are and how they work. Unfortunately, we can’t trust most people to go out of their way to look up these things. So it’s the responsibility of the news networks to make sure they’re providing as much comprehensive and factual information as they can. People need to be informed!!!)

I don’t quite understand the sentiment of patriotism. I’d say what is good for the planet first, and what is good for humanity second. If the USA is considered the best, most democratic and free country in the world, do you have an obligation to lead the way to a better future for all? We have the privilege to reach out to people across the globe and make a difference. It’s not all about us anymore, but the whole world.
