It's mostly about your position. If you stand in the right spot (3:03), he won't be able to reach you from the ground, and won't escape in time to catch you.

Hey, no worries! It only works if you get Sam to chase you for a moment, like at 20:56. When he returns to his spot, he ends up in a slightly different position, a bit more forward than he was before. Once you've done that, it's possible to sneak up and grab the sheep while he's looking the other way. You can see the same trick being used at 16:34. Otherwise it wouldn't be possible to sneak behind Sam.

How do you do the respawn warp in level 5?

If you look at where Ralph starts to fall at 9:36, see how there's a couple of sharp bits of snowy terrain sticking out on the right? You basically want to fall inside the triangle between the tip of the snowy area and the wall to your left. Sort of tucked into that corner and moving toward the other side. If you fall in that area, you can cross through the bottom corner of the respawn zone just before you die. I try to bump into the curved part of the wall as I'm running around it, and that does a pretty good job of dropping me in the right place without running too long and triggering the fall-and-die animation. (The warp can work either way, the animation just takes longer.) Here's a visual guide I put together when I first found the trick. @ItsNumber84 thanks for the response! I'm trying to do that for an achievement in retroachievements with no luck at all, even the wall climbing in other runs I didn't figured how to do. I'll see if with that information I'll manage to do the warp, thanks a lot for the help!
