[Former WR] Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories Speedrun in

After 2 years, I was finally able to break my old world record. But I didn't just break it. I SMASHED IT.
In the previous world record of 1:19, I only manipulated two or three shrines, and the remainder of the mages were luck based. Plus, I also fought Seto 2 and did the Final 6. This run aims to manipulate all 5 shrines in a row, skip Seto 2 and do the Final 7 instead, saving TONS of time.

@@AKDHFR no, I didn't use Python in this run. I didn't use any programs or anything, just the normal, unmodified game itself. I /DID/ use a Python script to create the ROUTE/STRATEGIES for the speedrun. There's a Python script that basically simulates thousands of duels per second and tells me in a big spreadsheet exactly what card I'll win on each frame. When creating the route for this speedrun, I ran that simulation and figured out which frames have Meteor B. Dragon as a drop. Then I figured out how to hit that frame during speedruns, then I practiced it a lot, and then I performed it during the speedrun.

He waited for a specific set of frames to start the game on. This is called RNG Manipulation. Basically, the game's "randomness" is the same every time. If you do the exact same thing every time, you'll get the same results. People found that starting on that specific period of frames gives you the best starting deck. There's videos out there that go into more detail, but this is the gist of it.

I'm resetting the game in these cases so that the frame count goes back to 0. Basically, for the rng manipulation I'm doing, I need to start some duels on the correct frame. However, the frame count starts going up the moment I turn on the console. So let's say I want to hit frame 700 against Heishin 1 in free duel to win MBD. Well, first I have to sit through all of the cutscenes right before the world tournament. That makes the frame count go way beyond 700. So, once I can save, I save, then I reset the console. This brings the frame count back down to 0, and now I can aim for frame 700 again. And, if I fail the manipulation and want to try again, since frame 700 has already passed, I have to reset the console to get it back to 0 and then try for frame 700 again. So, in short, I'm resetting the console to reset the frame count back to 0.

The game was released in 1999. And it was in development prior to that. So, the card game wasn't even released at the time. There were no rules back then. So, technically, this WAS legitimate yugioh back in 1999. It's basically the oldest rules that exist, rules that existed before the actual card game did!

Looking back at this game i am insanely proud of myself that I actually managed to beat this game without any exploits, and my strongest cards were 6 fuseable double-head thunder dragons, and one fuseable meteor b. Dragon after defeating jono2 and grass mage 50 times each. I was so happy after defeating heishin. Then seto pulled a fucking ultra dragon. I managed to defeat dark nite easily, but then i got crushed. After like a month i finally did it with insane rng

nope, not playing on emulator, im playing on a ps2 console, sorry. but i have used emulator lots of times in the past to play mods. i personally use ePSXe, and there are tons of great tutorials on setting up ePSXe, especially here on youtube. make sure youre downloading and setting up the BIOS by the way, bc no emulator will work without that, and that's a common mistake i see ppl make. good luck!

@@JoseRodriguez-vj2rd you have to get S ranks on people that have a chance to drop it. Low meadow mage has the best drops. For equip cards like megamorph you have to S tec Pegasus. You get S tec by making him lose by running out of cards. Takes a long time

Using manip strats does not mean It has to be an outside source... there are games you can do rng manip strats with changing certain ingame values. And you change certain ingame values for example by pressing certain buttons at a specific frame on a specific pixel.

it's actually much MUCH less than 1% drop rate of MBD against Heishin is a 4/2048 which comes out to about a juicy 0.195% chance! the reason I won 3 of them is because of a trick called RNG Manipulation. It isn't a glitch or hack or anything unintended really, it's all timing and reproducing the same duel over and over again. basically, rng manipulation works by starting a duel on the exact same frame, with the exact same deck, every time. 60 frames are going by per second but if you manage to start a duel at the exact same time with the exact same deck, you'll get the exact same drop every time. basically, lots of research was done to find out what cards will drop on each frame since the game has been turned on (which is why I reset the console, in order to reset the frame count back to 0). once people discovered "hey you win mbd against Heishin on this frame with this deck", all we had to do was hit that frame 3 times in a row and boom, 3 MBDs. It's technically a lot more complicated than that but that's generally how it works.
