I have had mine since late 2018 and it has been flawless. I have the regular eta automatic and it runs +2. Has been a very nice watch. Great finishing for the price.

Crazy how you and Marc made very similar videos within a few days of each other. After watching both, these watches seem awesome. Love the suspension system with the bezel and that bracelet looks very comfortable.

Formex has always been underrated. They are different but quality is top tier. People complaining about this and that, the name...heck I don't like Koenigsegg car name....but I can't ignore the engineering and appreciate it. If I had the money would get that HyperCar. I own and love my old Formex AS6525.

Fantastic review as always Rob! The Formex Essence is (in my opinion) the nicest and best made watch under $2.5k!

Superb piece . Fit and Finnish is excellent . 43 but wears like a 41 it really wears fantastic.. I had a problem with clasp however the guys dealt with it really well . I would say the only thing I would change is perhaps the logo could be a little smaller may help with the aesthetic , however this is a very small issue , this really is an excellent watch .

If you opt for the elaboré grade movement instead of the COSC-one, you'll save quite a bit. I'm looking at €-prices, so: COSC = 1,240, non-COSC/elaboré = 890, both on a metal bracelet. That's a difference of €350 - not bad for a bit less accuracy, IMO. Especially since the elaboré SW200s I have in my Steinharts run very respectably at around +2 to +3.5 s/day.

Formex Essence Chronometer is a VERY nice watch for the price listed. Thanks for the review. I have watched a similar review from Marc from Long Island Watch too. What surprised me a little bit was that there were many comments here about how people didn't like the watch's brand name. I guess it is personal preference. The name Formex doesn't really bother me. I think the watch provides tons of value for the price it asks for.

I really like the look of the watch and by what you say it seems to be very high quality. But the name, Formex every time I say that name or you say that name I think of a condom. Formex reminds me of a brand of condoms.

The Casio Oceanus T200 you reviewed has a very similar look to the case and bracelet of this Formex., obviously the Formex is on a whole different level but the design choices are similar.

Respectfully disagree. Both fonts work very well imo. Remember even Patek uses that simple all caps font in their watches.
@chiane19684 жыл бұрын
villLe it’s more the fact Formex, in that slanted graphic, doesn’t sound like a watch brand or look like a watch brand font. Patek at least does. Formex sounds like a chemical multinational. Looks cool on the side of a tanker truck though.
@Tonysoprano4974 жыл бұрын
I think the font is just too large for the watch which effects the premium look . I own this and it’s great watch but the watch would definitely look more premium with a more subdued logo . Do this and it’s killer ..

Clean smart watch, but Formex is the name of a material you would use to replace kitchen countertop with. A name change might help the company.

Great review Rob. I've had the same model you've shown for over a year and really love certain aspects of it. The mechanical design chops and execution that Formex has achieved is really impressive. There are some things that drive me nuts about the piece (there is no perfect watch after all), but the good aspects significantly outweigh any of my moans.

Both in your video, and in Long Island Watch's recent video, I cannot help but notice the misaligned chapter ring. Marc showed off 3 of these and all 3 had different amounts of misalignment. That is a total deal breaker :< I thought maybe it was just an optical illusion based on reflections of the hour markers, but no, it seems pretty well misaligned...

Hey Random, would you say that the watch fits like a true 43mm or smaller? I have 6.25" wrist and normally wear watches under 40mm. I'd be concerned that the watch would be or appear too big on my wrist.

There is a good reason why that bracelet and clasp are so "trick" as you put it. They are certainly made by Dexel SA who is a Swiss watch component manufacturer that has been around for 30+ years and specializes in the design and manufacture of clasps and buckles. Dexel is owned by Elio Granito. His son is Raphael Granito who is the CEO of Formex. Details are on the second page of my post here where I explored Dexel's patent for the micro adjustable butterfly clasp that they made for the Montblanc Geosphere and some Formex models. That clasp is even more "trick" than the one in this video, it's the one in the background of your video that I bet we will see in the future: forums.watchuseek.com/f2/butterfly-deployant-clasp-micro-adjustment-4849389.html

Swiss... they can even charge you going to the toilet, but can also make everything work fine... Greta watch, good simple mechanics. Only downside is the name's end, "....ex" gets me back in some "wanna be" "scientific" products from the 70's. Even the fonts are so, ffs!!!!
