Another way to help with the eye holes digging is to get an edge beveller and run it along all your edges front and back. This will round the edges. Once you form and bake the leather you can also slick the edges with either some water, saddle soap, some kind of slicking agent and something that can be used to create friction on the edge (A sharpie works pretty well.)

Can you do a tutorial for a full faced mask
@championvideo1008 жыл бұрын
Tim, unfortunately leather doesn't lend itself well to full faced masks. This can be achieved if you are willing to add stitching in or if you are willing to work in other mediums. However, I specialize in leather.

Is it ok to do the same thing with the leather that is already tanned?
@championvideo1009 жыл бұрын
+Ideja Mala Hello! I use vegetable tanned tooling leather for my masks. Other types of treated leather won't work as well for forming. Dyed and treated leathers also won't take paint as well as veg tan. So avoid suede or soft leathers. If you do a search for veg tan tooling leather, you will find some online places you can buy it! I highly recommend Hide House. Most larger craft stores will have small sheets of tooling leather as well, which are large enough for a few small masks or one bigger mask. I also sell leather and pre cut mask blanks in my Etsy store at www.etsy.com/shop/LucyLovesLeather Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I’m probably asking a stupid question hear but dose this also apply to faux leather or is it only for like genuine leather?
@deperivianimae437 жыл бұрын
Don't Ask me this would probably not work with faux leather because it doesn't absorb water, and you can't put it in the oven or it will melt. So it wouldn't hold its shape. But you might be able to find fairly cheap veg-tan leather at various craft stores such as Michaels.
