IT'S THE FINAL VIDEO FOR THE WEST ROME SAGA! That's right today we FORM ROME in EU4, starting as WEST ROME! WE have to destroy the EU4 Byzantines with help from the EU4 Rashiduns and Sassanids. We finally got to click the decision to form Rome in one of the best EU4 mods out there - the EU4 extended timeline mod. This has been a hell of a journey and an EU4 challenge!

If I remember correctly, troops that early in the game deal almost no damage aside from cavalry...So you can almost just go 100% calv decimate everybody. *thats assuming if infantry gets a shock pip by around 600+ year*

Congrats Laith, you are free from the pain. There really should be some sort of warscore modifier vs the Byzantines for uniting rome lmao, realistically wouldnt have taken 100 years of constant warfare to reunite the two romes, but hey. Was a good series, I hope you do some more extended timeline scenarios - though probably for your own sanity less painful ones, but that is kind of your brand of EU4 play.

Yeah at some point they would get the message that they're under the Western Emperor now. It didn't take Aurelian a century of fighting the bring the Gallic and Palmyrene empires back into the fold.

There should be a Western Rome mission tree that ends with a Personal Union CB on the Byzantines. Then once you get them loyal enough, another mission to inherit them and form Rome, bypassing the decision. This makes the most sense both historically and balance wise. I wouldn't go for a standard Restoration of Union CB either, instead giving a special CB that also gives them the opportunity to PU you if you lose hard enough (which, again, would have made sense historically).

@@kabobawsome absolutely. The whole point here is that you, at least at this time, are not actually different states. It's more of a civil war and it makes sense that it's winner-take-all.

@@macizogalaico West Rome is LEGIT rome, end of, unlike Byzantium west rome is the literal continuation of the roman empire. Byzantium split off into a seperate empire in order to preserve rome as west rome was falling, realistically if west rome came back and reconquered itself and rome, a couple wars against byzantium is all it really would take for majority of byzantine nobles realize that Byzantium can no longer claim to be the continuation of rome

youd think theyd let you take more provinces in wars in this mod.. cos populations were lower.. lower dev etc.. if you think about it wars back then theyd take whole nations or half a nation in one war.. Alexander took 1/4 of the world in one war

tbh this is just to limit snowballing, its never been about population density or whatever, throughout every time period theres been examples of countries swalling multiple others within a single conflict. (The reason why density doesnt matter is that the imperial core is also less dense, thus you have a smaller army to garrison your conquests)

Like the other guy said. In 1517 the Ottoman Empire annexed the entire Mamluk sultanate in one war. In EU4, that takes no less than 5 wars to do. Similarly, the Spanish conquered the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas in single wars. The Ottomans annexed (partitioned) Hungary in one war.

It doesn’t actually need to take that long. I allied the Byzantines day 1, so when the Ostrogoths declared war on me I took most of their land,along with their visigoth allie. Then I called Byzantium into my italian war, and destroyed them. Cleaned up France and Iberia, broke alliance with Byzantium. Declared war on them 3 time in total, took all their land and money. Then finished England and and North Africa
