Another fun way to do oust the shogunate is by using the samurai. I found that if you manage to get professional army, remove the barracks from states other than your capital, and build up an army in your capital, you can win vs the rest of the island in the revolution. The strategy seemed very japan, reminiscent of the warring states, so i thought youd find it fun too.

I didn’t believe you about the literacy rate in the US because I’m an independent thinker, and it seems you are somewhat correct, some pages seemed outlandish compared to others, but after a bit of searching, the common consensus was that about 11-15% of Americans are incapable of reading or writing above a very basic level. I’m actually shocked because I’ve never met an American who can’t read well but holy, it’s not a dig on our education system however because I went thru that very same system and I was reading college level in 7th grade.

I’m no, it really isn’t. Even with Vicky3 at launch and Vicky2 at legacy, it’s still not better. These arguments every time PDX releases a title are boring and exhausting. But here, Vicky2 only becomes playable past the first few decades if you have every DLC and patch as well as several key mods.

I'm not the whole way through the video yet, but I agree that Japan with its closed economy is a good introduction to balancing industry. In my personal experience the opposite situation (like playing as a Great Britain puppet, like New South Wales) is also a good introduction to industry as you have access to the giant markets and can safely experiment with new industries and macro economics

Yep, I agree, Victoria 3 is not that complicated after you get the hang of it. I'd actually say it becomes relatively boring lol. I'm a newer Paradox games player and I enjoyed CK3 much more, even though after a couple plays there I still felt like I've only scratched the surface. So many things to customize about faiths and cultures and whatnot... Ma bucur ca te-am descoperit!

it's a bit of a stretch, granted, but not completely impossible..you are passing and enacting reforms to do it, it's not automatic.

@@Eisenwulf666 True enough, but it is quite different from Vicky 2, to colonize you had to be "civilized" and be a minor power to get any "colony power". I just feel that for atleast japan it was too easy. There are no "blocks" to overcome to be able to do all that. You could industrialize in 10 years. Stuff like that wasn't possible as unciv japan I played Japan myself and felt like it was playing like any other power. Like prussia with lower literacy and more traditionalist pops.

My Japan playthrough allowed me to learn economics in the game but I was never able to compete with Qing militarily, which is a huge difference to Vic2.

When I played Belgium - I had a province conquered from Qing and when they decided to side with my enemy during another diplomatic play, I just sent a 50 battalion army to defend this one province in China against 700+ Qing battalions. And you know what? Even though the balance was nowhere near in my favor (-70 or something), my army managed to not only defend the province easily but also managed to push them when I gave them attack order. It was somewhere past 1900s. So, if you keep your army "up-to-date" with western countries, you should be able to beat Qing with no problems. Don't be afraid that Qing has 10-20 times bigger army, they are extremely weak.

There was even historical incident between Great Britain and Qing (during opium wars I think) where 5k British soldiers managed to hold and win against 100k+ Chinese army because the Brits had a modern army with guns and artillery and the Chinese only had peasants with spears.

Had a lot of success with japan politically, i focused on lowering budhism party down to 5% over a time period of 50 years while boosting industrialists and intelligia while keeping the shoganate and samurai still relevent as the main party with landed voting system. My industry was failing as education/research was becoming an issue late game and my economic competitive was becoming too expensive along with construction expenses, my gold reserves tanked beyond recognition i had no choose but to downsive my industry and lower expenses and raise taxes.

If you are all wondering how he got the Shogunate to support colonialization... he either restarted until he had a jingoist shogunate party leader, or got really lucky and had one on the first try.

literally mentioned in the video it's rng and that I did multiple runs before i started recording......but just fyi, guaranteed colonialization support u get 100% if u just add another interest group to government that wants it, thats it, it's extremely easy as long as u ok with lowering legitimacy by 6 percent

I found that first you should check if colonial law is acceptable from the start, about 50-60%.. it depends what leaders you have in parties, so restarting help with it.... second - Russia colonize Kazakh first then when invasion fighing procs on Kazakh, two thing could happen, first if Ottos interfere in Kazakh fight, then Russia wont colonize Sakhalin, if nobody interfere then Sakhalin and Ainus are basically lost for colonizing

Supp ludi, I just started my first playthrough with Chile for learning the game (Is my country btw), and I think is a good choice for learning the same things you showed up here, but hared cuz you have low pops and low gdp. The interesting thing is I managed to create some industries and made enough import/exports from the UK that they added me on their market, and now I'm the 14th power in the world with 50 years more to play, so it's totally doable with almost any nations, just stick to the basics of the chain of supply and try to export and import all you can (lots of ports will be needed). Will be great to see you playing with some countries of south america some time.
