Governance and Public Policy Introduction
Ever since its induction in the CSS syllabus back in 2016, Governance and Public Policies have become a very popular and sought-after optional subject among the students. While it’s a very interesting subject, students face difficulties in preparing the subject well due to the absence of relevant quality material particularly in the context of Pakistan. Secondly, the theoretical portion of the subject is extremely important but students are usually clueless about the application of theories on practical governance and public policy issues. The trend of past exams also shows that examiners now expect a solution-based analytical approach from students and crammed bookish knowledge no longer suffices to score well in GPP in the competitive examination.
I have designed this course to not only cover all aspects of the syllabus but to equip the students with the kind of analytical skills that’d broaden their perspective and make them analyze any policy issue in its entirety. I have focused on giving as many examples from the context of Pakistan as I could because that is the area students usually struggle with the most. Because of my background in Political Science and Constitutional Law, I have managed to draw relevant theoretical linkages to make the content comprehensive. I hope you’d be able to develop a firm grip on the subject and score good marks in the exam by the time you have finished this course. Best of luck!
