Great game, even a player in modern times generally staying off the track and overtaking in 1 move/barging past cars, even past 10 at the start like many do on modern f1 games, still didn't win + the cars would overtake you very dynamically, you couldn't just sit on the racing line like 97 and expect noone to overtake you, yes not much of a challenge for a modern gamer putting in all that much effort but this was an unforgettable experience for me as a kid. I just wish going back to play it now you didn't gain so much damn time on the straights. But for a game with just a dpad, accelarate and brake, not bad at all.

@@4ll4nb31l the general experience was widely touted to be inferior at the time, and still holds true today; a modified graphics engine made for clunkier controls, less consistent handling and less user-friendly interfaces, and made fans of its predecessors lose a little faith. While the game itself still looked visually impressive, what they'd improved in some areas, they really lost in others, especially when put against the runaway success of Gran Turismo.

PlayStation Power gave it a review of 69%, noting that "Psygnosis have managed to cock up the one uncockupable licence on the PlayStation" and that it was far worse than both F1 '97 and the original F1 game on the PlayStation

A shame this game was disappointing; graphics dire and the handling was bad. Only thing that saves it being a flop was Murray Walker and Martin Brundle’s commentary.

Yep F197 before it was amazing how did they get 98 so horribly wrong? Very lazy, sloppy effort.

@@RyanX1899 F1 98 was made by an entirely different company (Visual Sciences) and was rushed to release for the 1998 season finale.
