I've been following F1 since around 1983, and as many others have said in the comments, this is one of the best documentaries I've watched on F1. Very, very well done. What sets it apart from other documentaries is the scope, showing that everything, the car design, manufacture, pit crew, drivers, and strategy, must work at their peak. It was really cool to see Hannah Schmitz representing the strategy team. Red Bull's strategy has been just perfect; it's mind-boggling how they can get it right every single time, even when the strategy seems odd for a fan (one of those "why are they doing that?!" moments), and then after the race is usually "yeah, they were spot-on on the strategy". Great video.

Cleo can reach an audience outside the normal racecar fandom. I myself am not much of an F1 fan, (the only popular motorsport that remotely interests me is rally racing,) but I've been coming by Cleo's channel for her science content for ages. This makes her kind of an ideal host for bringing the "nerdier" side of F1 racing to a broader audience. (Personally, this is the only reason I'm really interested in F1 at all; I love the engineering and I study aerodynamics as a hobby, so there's a lot to appreciate, design-wise, in F1, and I care about that more than the competitive aspect of the sport itself. Cleo is the perfect ambassador for "my kind" of people.) Plus, I mean, motorsports are predominately followed by male fans. Having a female presenter with this much _genuine_ enthusiasm for the sport is basic just free advertising for FIA, (or Red Bull in particular, in this case,) because it's more likely to appeal to an otherwise potentially ambivalent female audience. And given her background in covering science and engineering topics, it's a fair bet that she can actually understand and convey the important principles involved in F1 racing in a way that resonates with her existing fan base. From a marketing perspective this was a really smart move.

An interesting characteristic of modern f1 engines is that they doesn´t use a direct sparkplug for igniting the mixture, the use a pre combustion chamber (turbulent jet ignition) to inject jets of fire to the cylinder chamber (it´s like a mini flamethrower inside each cylinder). This allows the engine to be able to achieve complete combustion with very lean air/fuel mixture, this is one of the reasons of the high thermal efficiency of these engines. Is great to start seeing this technology arriving to road cars, like the Maserati MC20. Great video btw!

This is really probably one of the best F1 videos ever made. Or at least maybe the best I've found. The amount of access you got is insane, countless automotive journalists would kill for this. I think it'd be cool if one of the teams released something like this after a major regulation change covering the previous regulations, showing how they built the engine, some of the aerodynamic intricacies of that generation, etc. Very unlikely that'd ever happen as I'd imagine even that could give out secrets, but this is about as close as anyone's gonna get otherwise. What a great video.

This is not only your best video, but it’s the best piece of media I’ve seen on formula 1 in years. Well done! As a longtime fan, it’s been such a blast seeing f1 become popular in the US. It truly is the marriage of what is possible with engineering and human talent in the car.

I’ve been watching F1 since ‘99 and would easily recommend this video to both old heads like myself, as well as new fans to the sport. Great work Cleo! Also seeing you and Max together is a surreal moment of my worlds colliding 🙌🏾

You are not an “old head” if you didn’t watch live through the 70s, Stewart, Fittipaldi, Lauda, Hunt……etc you are a youngster 😂

@@fleialex I was about to say something similar. I feel so privileged to have seen the likes of Hunt, Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve, Alan Jones and many more heroes of old. The first season I can actively remember is '78 and that's the year I saw my first in real life GP at Zandvoort. I've been to many many more races since. Pops and me were die hard Lauda fans.

I've watched F1 since 1985, never been able to afford to go. But it's the most amazing sport. There's nothing quite like lights out and the first corner. Always incredible. Cleo, you did a fantastic job of explaining how it all works. Your enthusiasm is infectious and I absolutely love everything you do.
