I was at the Bio-Bienen-Apfel event in Spielberg this year where he was ambassador, and he seemed to take his role in the transfer of knowledge to young school children very seriously, answering their bee questions in a way they could understand, painting a beehive with them, revisiting the bee hotel they built last year etc. All in all it seemed pretty genuine, even though there was a lot of PR stuff involved.

I think the main reason the lot of F1 drivers become business owners and investors is because of the surroundings they grew up in. They either had rich parents (who were probably business owners themselves) or sponsors around them from a young age. Karting and the junior formulas are expensive "hobbies" and surely they had to have grown around financially-savvy people.

I always get a little leery when a celeb sets up a charity or something on their own. For one, it creates competition in a pretty crowded field, so less money going to other established charities (not always of course, established charities can become so bloated that it's more about the brand and making money *cough* Susan G Komen *cough*) And many start them because lets face it, celebrities are vain as hell; they want THEIR name out there, getting to say what THEY have done to help. Not to mentionusing it enrich themselves or family members. That's all to say that Checo is doing it RIGHT, by all accounts. Definitely an underserviced area (care for orphans and cancer patients is always lacking it seems), it's somewhat low-key since so many of us haven't heard of it, and they do an amazing job. More celebrities need to be like Checo.

Lovely to see how many of the more established drivers (in particular) are ploughing their money into the community, green projects, etc. The younger ones don't have as much money to "play with" (they're not playing, I'm just using the idiom) - _yet._ I would be very surprised if the majority of them don't follow in their elder statesmen's footsteps when they get the chance (they probably have to spend more time working than the older guys! 😉). At least one money-making venture and charitable work/foundations and/or bringing kids up through the ranks. A number of older, retired racers are now driver managers, like DC & Webber. They're the best people to usher a great newbie through the ranks. DC flies a number of the drivers to and from the F1 race (he had to take Danny & Max home from Baku after _that_ race. I was imagining him giving them the biggest bollocking before they got on board 🤣).
