This category records Formula One events which have been run independent from the FIA World Championship at some point in their history.
In the 1950s and 1960s, there were many Formula One races that did not count for the World Championship; in 1950, a total of twenty-two Formula One races were held, of which only six counted towards the World Championship. The number of non-championship Formula One events decreased throughout the 1970s and 1980s, to the point where the last non-championship Formula One race was the 1983 Race of Champions.

You can truly see how insane of a driver Jim Clark was even before he won a championship. Truly a crime that Jim is being forgotten more and more as the F1 fanbase turns into fangirls and celebrities.

This is absolutely true. I was born in the 70's so I never saw Clark but I have read and noticed from statistics that he was one of the best ever. Could I say he was like Senna was later on? Nowadays sponsors demand too many Pepsodent smiles and fans all the time events and too many rules.

@QuickF1History the cars were slower so Jim could never be as fast as Ayrton was but the feel that Jim had for the car was absolutely impeccable, i remember some stat where his teammates would mechanically DNF every few races and when they didn't, the cars were pretty much done for but Jim could go on for like 5-6 races - almost the whole season mind you - without retiring and still winning multiple times in a row. I get Ayrton, Schumi, Lewis and my personal favorite, Mika were all faster than Jim was but Jim was almost unbeatably fast in the age of appalling reliability and insanely difficult tracks where many lost their lives. Jim should always be in the GOAT discussion with the rest.

@@TheBiggestCorn Thank you for your good comments. Please keep up the good writing when something comes to mind. Mika (Häkkinen) was also one of my own favourites and I was able to follow his whole career from Lotus to McLaren and championships.
