Also Fangio was already as old as Hamilton is now (38) when the F1 world championship was first held and he still managed to win the title in 5 of the 7 full seasons he competed in (and got 2nd in the other 2). He also won those titles with 4 different constructors. It's really not that hard to decide... Fangio is still the GOAT.

E così mi restano i bei ricordi! Like 1916

Yeah, because Häkkinen, Räikkönen, Montoya and Alonso didn't exist... Schumacher and Ferrari are always talked about as they have been 'dominating' while actually they almost always really had to fight for their titles and not secure them mid-season like it is nowadays. And FIA changed their rules much more often, trying to 'stop' their 'dominance'. They just always managed to get the best out of each of the changes over and over again. 2004 they where surprised by their own car and that it was as good as it was.

The best drivers in history are the ones between 1975 and 1995, when you didn't have electronics and assistance everywhere and the pilots were left on their own with their manual sticks. I don't think any F1 connoisseurs would consider Hamilton a greater driver than Senna, Schumi or Prost. The numbers are meaningless. It's the toughness of the competition that matters. The GOAT belongs in the 80s, between Senna, Lauda, and Prost and a young Schumi. Choose your pick. Difficult not picking Prost when you realize his competition at the time and the fact he finished twice behind Lauda on half a point.

Agree. And anyone who has witnessed F1 racing from, for example, 1970 to 1990 knows how hard it was to win a race with that level of reliability of those cars. Not to mention track conditions, complete absence of any sort of computers. Almost no saftey at all... How fragile those cars were. Any crash was life threating. Those drivers were truly heroes. Hamilton 4 times better then Fangio? 🤣🤣🤣And, for me, Alain Prost is the best driver in F1 history, considering his technique, his smoothness. his tactics.

Schumacher is the real winner, came to a poor team(with a terrible car), created the best car later, and remained hardworking and the best driver himself. Without him, ferrari wouldn't have known what victory was and they were great only because of him. After he leaves, what remains? rhetorical question. Yes, sometimes he didn't show his best side, but that's what champions are like, you can't be perfect in everything. He also helped Mercedes, which later helped them create a self-winning car for Hamilton (but even so, under conditions of adequate competition, he could have lost to other racers cos he is good driver but not great). Senna is also the greatest driver and it is unknown how much more he could have won and what contribution he could have made. Verstappen has every chance to get closer to these legends, because even in bad conditions he manages to earn points, get on the podium, and still manages to play simulators at night before the Grand Prix, he is just built different xD

It was a much more competitive race before the 90s. However, as technology developed, the competition decreased. A good racer with a better car opened up the gap significantly.

This is the most unique sport in the world, where success is determined by EQUIPMENT to a much greater extent than by skills alone ! I don't want to take anything away from anyone, but this is what it looks like in F1 🤷

If Max had been driving a car as competitive as Lewis's for the amount of time they've both been around and Lewis was driving a competitive car, Max and Lewis would be pretty much on the same number of race wins by now - and Max with seven years less driving!

Max still needs a couple of different races to catch on Lewis record for most different race wins. He could win in Las vegas this year. But he has to win in Singapore , china , Portugal , tuscan , nurburgring , turkey and wait to bring back a few circuits like Indianapolis and magny cours. He is still too young though.

I’m willing to bet that if you swapped cars with Max and any other driver, that driver would dominate… I totally understand that Max is a fantastic driver and totally respect him for that but there is something otherworldly going on with that car. Red Bull is going to have to have their own series soon because the other drivers are backing off with a red Bull shows up in their mirrors and that is not competition. How can Perez suck so badly and Max do so well? It doesn’t make any sense.

“Any other driver, that driver would totally dominate” Well Perez is driving the same car. And he failed to qualify for Q3 five times in a row. For context, Valterri Bottas never failed to reach Q3 during his five seasons at Mercedes. Now THAT was a dominant car. Max is just a dominant driver.

I have been thinking that the entire Merc regime has been a complete dull period, but maybe it was mainly the 2018-19. Not only the championship, but also the race tended to be boring due to overtakes being so difficult on the cars of the day.

GREAT JOB!!! One of the coolest informational videos I have ever watched about FI racing!! It is ashame that for many years now REALISTICALLY ONLY 1 team has a shot of winning the championship and generally there is ONLY 1 driver capable of getting all those wins. So to me FI in Many recent years has been VERY SKEWED towards which ever team has the dominate technology. So in my Opinion, these standings are NOT a true reflection of who the best driver is. Not to say they are not a top driver BUT, when your team is so dominate for YEARS, it Truly is NOT an accurate portrayal of who is the Best Driver. That is a fact! That, in my Opinion is a Major reason why F1 SUCKS!!!!! There are MANY people (obviously myself included) who know the ONLY realistic chance I am going to see someone different win the race is 1st lap, 1st corner and Hope that guy gets in an accident (not getting hurt) unless that is your favoirte driver, lol. IF there is no accident, generally the race is Over. Yes, another driver can make a great move to position himself in the lead, however, it is only a matter of time before the dominate team's #1 driver disposes of this wanna be, lol. I do Not follow Indy car near as much as I follow F1 and not near as much as I used too. Cart/Champ Car etc. used to be my primary, however, when that Silver Spoon, Idiot t. george took over I stopped watching it for many years. Now that Mr. Roger Penske is in control over the last few years I have started paying more attention to Indy Car. YESSSS, Indy Car is a Spec Series. However, the Racing is ABSOLUTELY Fantastic. It literally blows the doors OFF of F1. The F1 head honchos look down at Indy Car saying they are this little spec series, but F1 has always looked down at Cart/Champ/Indy Car. But, as a Ex amateur open wheel driver and die hard open wheel fan for MANY years drivers/fans want to actually see RACING, LOL. F1 in MANY years has NEVER really offered that. Top team taken out in the 1st turn or being passed in the pits, not on track is All they can really offer. I LOVE F1 because I LOVE open wheel racing. But, Indy Car kicks F1's BUTT in Series vs Series which one offers true let the best driver win Racing!!! Literally ALMOST ANYONE in Indy Car can wind ANY race. LOL, ok my rant is OVER, Sorry - but some things Need to be said, lol. With F1 it is ALL about the money/technology and with that you will get exactly what we have been seeing for many years, ZERO COMPETITION!!! Not only do the fans lose big time, but the drivers lose big time as well. Many drivers careers will NEVER get to experience their full potential, not in this MONEY/TECHNOLOGY driven environment:(:(:(:( Thank You for the Very Cool video!
